Does that mean they're keeping Ankergren or is he still under contract?

Surprised about Navarro but not about the other two.

How can Poyet release Navarro when he has played 39 games this season? Ridiculous decision!

Navarro has been a grrat player for us this season, surprised at not getting a new contract, would have been good as a squad player but at the end of the day he isn't a player that can get us to the next level. Good luck to him and I'm sure he'll still be playing championship football next season.

I thought Navarro was probably 50/50 for a new contract. Not surprised by this but surprised Ankergren and Brezovan aren't going too.

Gus said he was going to make some important decisions! He does not seem to have made many! Painter certainly is not up to standard of chanmpionship.

He's not necessarily going to announce all of them at once. I'm sure he's done it in dribs and drabs before.

you would think he needs to get a player lined up before releasing more id expect anks to go as soon as we get another no1 in place too

Not really, whereas a decision to release nearly all our development squad in one fell swoop on the other hand....

Could well see Anks also made available for sale or released in due course this summer too (when IS his contract up anyway?).

Both Ankergren & Brezovan are out of contract this summer.

Your surprise is noted. Perhaps you could give us a list of who you think Gus should retain or release?

According to the official site they both have a year left.

I'm not a massive navarro fan, but for the first time I have seen, Zamora25 makes a fair point - if Gus thinks he's good enough to play the vast majority of matches, then it seems odd that he would let him go... Hopefully we have a quality replacement lined up.

Why link the number of games Navaro played with his contract? Could it be that Poyet has other players in mind for this role next season?
Navarro was a good player - not great, but good, - but surely we must trust the manager's judgement and acknowledge that he might not be a candidate for the team next year!

Never had a decent keeper at BHA since Brian Powney.

Powney was a short a@se - I hate short keepers. Tony Burns was better than him anyway. What about Geoff Sidebottom, Peter Grummit, Graham Moseley? Gotta say that none of the keepers currently at the club cut the mustard - a bit like the strikers. Let's hope this gets resolved in the summer!

Never mind we're building for the future and we're brilliant and we've come such a long way............and all that bull...........yawn yawn yawn.......... relegation battle ahead.........
I'll make a list, that'll make it all better!!!!

As we are down to 2 keepers, that are still under contract, you could assume he is looking for another one at least. I noticed the Newcastle keeper on loan at Celtic is subject to a 2 mil bid from them. That would be a great coup for a young keeper who has experience at top level. Go on Gus, get Fraser Forster onoard the bus.

Joe Corrigan...

brightonup says...

Yes.... signing a top keeper must be a priority. Both Ankergren and Brezovan have been good for us - but if you consider the skills shown by the Reading goalie..... then I think we know what a difference it could make....

If you read carefully what Navarro said, he said the club was not prepared to offer him a contract "at this time". Whether that was said to soften the blow or whether it means the club are keeping their options open and Navs was trying to force their hand by announcing it on twitter I don't know. Poke tried the same trick and he got his answer.

I would have thought Navarro was worth retaining even as cover for bridders if he gets injured or sold. Therefore, the timing of Bridders contract extension is interesting. Navs could stay if there was a big bid for Bridcutt, but he might find another club in the meantime

Ankergren will stay as long as his contract lasts or until he can find another club I would have thought.

A shame to see Navs go. He has served the Albion well, but as said before on here by others, not the type of player to help lift the team into the play-offs. Best of luck Navs and thanks for the memories!

Good luck to all the players who will be released this summer! Sad to see go some who have served the club well but exciting to see who's going to come in. It will be a reflection of TB's intent for sure :-)

Do you remember the game against Man City (we won 4-1) when Corrigan lost his contact lens and the game was stoped for 5 minutes?
