I seem to remember Arsenal bought some T.Henry bloke back in the day who had plenty of talent but didn't exactly impress on the wing .He went away for six months, beefed himself up, played as a CF and became an Arsenal legend. Gai is def worth a punt, afterall he may not of been ready for how physical the English game is. If we don't snap him up, we'll regret it!
I agree markymark03 that as a member of the squad Assulin might be worth a punt depending on what other options Poyet is pursuing. Size isn't everything. Messi and Tevez aren't exactly giants and nor was Maradona who I am sure everybody will remember had to use a 'hand' when challenging for the ball in the air. Of course what all three have/had in abundance is skill and strength. What Assulin lacks is strength but if as you suggest he addresses that he could be an asset. At least having had Assulin on loan Poyet is in a position to properly evaluate him.
You guys have nailed it. Agree entirely and would love us to give him a deal to strengthen our squad."

Albion would face competition for Assulin

Albion face strong competition from clubs in Germany if they want to re-sign Gai Assulin.

The Argus understands Eintracht Frankfurt, Cottbus and Hertha BSC are all interested in the 21-year-old Israeli after he was released yesterday by Manchester City.

Assulin, below, showed only glimpses of the form which made him a hot prospect with Barcelona following his loan move to The Amex from City in February.

Boss Gus Poyet was sufficiently impressed to extend the versatile winger’s deal the following month for the rest of the campaign but he was restricted to two starts and five substitute appearances for the Seagulls.

Poyet already has Will Buckley, Kazenga LuaLua and Craig Noone competing for wide spots. The alternative role of attacking midfielder for the diminutive Assulin will also be blocked if Albion manage to re-sign Spanish star Vicente.

Meanwhile, Albion’s Adam El-Abd was an unused substitute as Egypt won 3-0 against Togo last night.

It is understood the last of Egypt’s three-match series of games has been cancelled, denying El-Abd a possible second cap.
