Albion away to Hull on opening day

Here we go: Albion hope to celebrate in the new season Here we go: Albion hope to celebrate in the new season

Albion open their Championshipship season with a long haul to Hull and a chance to get the better of Steve Bruce again.

The Seagulls visit the KC Stadium on August 18 for their first league fixture.

It means they start the campaign with two away games after visiting Swindon in the Capital One Cup four days earlier.

Bruce was Sunderland's manager when Albion knocked them out of the League Cup at The Amex early last season. He has taken over at Hull from the sacked Nicky Barmby.

The corresponding fixture last season ended goalless, as did The Amex meeting between the teams, when Nigel Pearson was the Hull boss.

Albion's first home game is on August 21 against Cardiff, who reached the play-offs last season, followed by a visit from Barnsley.

Arch rivals Crystal Palace host the Seagulls on December 1, with the return at The Amex on March 16.

Gus Poyet's side have two home matches over Christmas, against Millwall on Boxing Day and Watford three days later, before kicking off 2013 at Ipswich.

They face a testing climax as they bid to improve on last season's tenth-placed finish. Visits from Charlton, Leicester and Blackpool in the final month are combined with away games at Middlesbrough, Peterborough and a penultimate trip to Leeds.

The final match of the season is at home to relegated Wolves on May 4.

All I can say, seeing all the fixtures listed, is just how tough the division looks this year!

At least the Palace games are on Saturdays!!

I thought exactly the same. Virtually every fixture looks like a "big" game, so the quality of the players we sign (where are they?) is paramount if we are to make any impression this year.
Palace on Saturday is good until we get to the evening in the town centre!! At least on a Tuesday evening they could be shipped back to Croydon.

The police will change them in the coming weeks to the usual mid-week games.

I thought that when last seasons' fixture list came out, but that turned out ok...

Yes it's going to be tough, but here's hoping for second season at the Amex to match the first.

Is'nt the fixture list a bit of hype about nothing! Heavens we play each team twice, but we knew that in May! more important is which 11 players we put on the field, surely!!!! Over to you Gus.

Hardly hype for nothing beanyeye.
Many will be organising their very lives around certain dates and fixtures, me included. If you only watch the home games, there can still be possible 'clashes' with personal family events etc., so really every hardened fan needs to know where they will or won't be throughout the season.
Let's face it, there are always going to be certain opposition sides we will seek to know when and where we play against.
For many, the season begins here!

Fair, point. But team selection/squad development has got to be paramount, surely! Where is the news there? Calling, Gus Poyet, can you hear us? How about some comment from the new guy? Where are we looking, Ukraine or on the South Coast?

You seem to be having some kind of panic, yet pre-season hasn't even begun, released players are still under contract, and there has been very little transfer business done by anyone.

No-one was suggesting the fixture list was more important than signing new players but, as the response to your initial question suggests, it is very relevant for lots of people.

If you can cope with waiting for confirmed signings, I suggest you check the BHAFC official site, but if you want to experience some 'hype about nothing', I suggest popping along to one of the transfer rumour web sites.

Looking at the strength of the Championship again this season which looks arguably stronger than last and the current squad we have, I'd take 10th again right now. Im very much looking forward to seeing who comes in because if we have genuine aspirations of the promised land then i think we are going to need a fair amount of investment in to the playing staff.

Full-backs top the list

5:00pm Wednesday 13th June 2012

Poyet confident despite Vicente link

9:30am Monday 11th June 2012

The Yellow Submarine are being linked with Vicente.

No panic here but we are now half way through June and it just seems that we get or I get the same vibes as I did last pre-season all talk and no action or any positive word from the club on who they are after and yes |I no Gus likes to keep it close to his chest.
All we are getting at the moment is who we maybe loosing.
Anyways another two weeks to this month give or take so fingers crossed.

The Palace games are going to be Midday K/O's. Sussex/ MET police don't even want evening K/O's in fear of drinking all day - like down at the Albion last year.

Yeah but we significantly strengthened our team last summer so getting the same vibes as last year suits me!

(Bennett and Murray out, but CMS, Buckers, Vicente and LuaLua in (+ Hoskins who is of similar standard to Murray).

Happy with the fixtures. Away trip to Hull for openers (already in the planning), Saturday Palace fixtures for the first time in ages (much better and takes the hassle away from the train station stuff last season....can stay longer celebrating in the North Stand concourse or Dick's now instead!

And the fixture bods have successfully avoiding plonking our visit to The Reebok in th snidely of my holiday....it's my only new stadium available from league fixtures next season.

Sorted!

You'd have to have a 9am kick-off to stop that Croydon lot from drinking before the match!
