Albion sign Kuszczak

Tomasz Kuszczak has signed for Albion Tomasz Kuszczak has signed for Albion

Albion have made their first signing of the summer, landing former Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

The 30-year-old Pole has agreed a two-year deal following his release from Old Trafford.

Kuszczak has played in the Premier League for United and West Brom and had a spell on loan with Watford last season.

Albion boss Gus Poyet said: "There were clubs in England and abroad interested in Tomasz, but it says a lot for the ambition of this club that he wanted to sign for Brighton.

"We had been tracking his progress for some time and he will provide real competition to both Casper Ankergren and Peter Brezovan for the goalkeeper’s jersey this coming season – and that can only be a good thing for the team moving forward."

Don't miss an exclusive interview with Tomasz Kuszczak in The Argus on Wednesday.

If one gets injured you still need a main man and a reserve...

I think the point is that all three goalies are over 30 - presumably Brez and Casper will be looking to play matches. The third choice should ideally be a younger goalie with prospects for the future.

Friedel 41, Jaaskelainen 37, two of the best keepers in the Prem, Kuszczak at 30 could possibly be the best signing of the season. Ipswich fans are gutted LOL.

Anyway back on topic: superb signing! He has bags of experience at the top level and looked excellent against us for Watford....bet playing at The Amex didn't harm our cause!

Love what he's said in the press release. Especially these snippets:

"The manager and coaching staff, the team, stadium, crowds, through to the plans for the new training ground, everything is geared up for playing at the highest level and I could sense that ambition to be a top club straight away.

"Also when I played against Brighton last season, while on loan at Watford, I was very impressed with the way the team played - it was totally different to the rest of the Championship and more like what I was used to at Manchester United.

"This team likes to pass the ball, they like to create, they are attractive to watch. The way Brighton play is the future of football. I had other clubs who wanted to sign me but my heart told me that this was the right choice.

...."The Premier League is where I want to be again and I believe I can get there with Brighton. This club is heading in only one direction, and I want to play my part in helping us get there."

Btw I never had any problems with any British. Not here in Germany ot in the UK or in Spain. Normaly I've more problems with the behaviour of the German when they are on holiday. Have to say that Kuszczak is the most significant signing Brighton has ever made. Just need Vicente and Assulin to stay. A left and right back plus a big stiker.

So it is just 3 new signings and two contract extentions we need and with Toby and JFC also stepping up next season we will be fine.

I am confident that everything will slip nicely into its rightful place including or resident troll!

markymark03, your song is entirely inappropriate, even if we had been playing Germany.
I can only think that you must have suffered concussion as a result of a moose's head or suchlike falling on you.
Don't mention the war!

Pte, and could it be more than coincidence that Blatter has just demanded goal-line technology as 'not an alternative but a necessity'

HovePark resident, I've started reading your comments again, because in the end, I couldn't resist watching you get egg on your face every day.
If you knew anything about football, it would have been obvious that Ankergren and Brezovan will be the ones providing competition for Kuszczak.
Your posts are becoming less vitriolic, and I predict that you will have 'turned Bertie' before the start of the season.

Tell you who are starting to irk me though: The French.

Platini (the most French person in both looks and attitude I've ever seen), Blanc and Evra are amongst those who seem to have a chronic superiority complex at the moment. It is unbecoming, shall we say!
I agree Capt'. Platini is so smug and thinks that just because he is the heir apparent to Blatter he can do want he wants. I thought Blatter was the worst we had encountered in terms of obstinacy and bias against England but Platini has learnt and surpassed the Master.
I don't like Evra either...he is a cheat and a liar in most people's opinion. I don't mind the French people generally, especially the women. Always found them quite obliging....hence my psuedonym. ;-)
Haha. Then we are peas in a pod, my good man!

Can't wait to see Platini retract the goal line technology measures Septic Bladder is finally getting found to instigating as soon as he parks his smug Gallic arse down on the throne!

How very depressing!

Noted he has had International appearances at various age levels add the Man U experience should result in more confidence in our defence.
