Torquay have snapped up out-of-contract Albion goalkeeper Michael Poke on a two-year deal.

Gulls boss Martin Ling has revealed he tried to sign the former Southampton keeper last summer.

Poke, 26, made just one League Cup appearance for the Seagulls, in a defeat at Northampton, in his two seasons with the club.

He spent part of last term with Bristol Rovers and was let go by Albion at the end of the season.

He already has 46 league starts for Torquay to his name, spread over three loan spells.

Poke was released at the same time as fellow goalkeeper David Gonzalez, who is reported to be interesting the Seagulls' opening league opponents Hull City.
