Yardy wants leaders Sharks to keep run going

Skipper Mike Yardy has urged Sussex not to ease up after maintaining their 100% record in the FL T20 last night.

The Sharks won a thrilling encounter against Essex at Chelmsford when Ben Brown hit the winning runs off the penultimate ball.

The result lifted them four points clear at the top of the south group and a fifth consecutive win against Kent at Hove tonight would put Sharks within touching distance of the quarter-finals.

Yardy said: “The key thing is to beat teams like Essex as I am sure they will be one of the teams challenging to go through.

“It is also very important to keep our momentum going. It is not so much how you start in these groups but how you finish as you take that form into the knockout stages.

“We can’t start believing we have achieved anything yet but if we keep playing like that then we have a chance of going a long way.”

Sussex achieved the win without both overseas stars. Rusty Theron is still in South Africa due to a personal issue while Scott Styris has not recovered from a thumb injury.
