Eastbourne's play-off hopes suffered a setback on a bad night in the Elite League.

Eagles went down 51-39 at rivals King's Lynn Stars while Birmingham were winning.

A makeshift Eagles side led early on but were on the back foot after Lynn had 5-1s in heats six and seven.

Impressive reserve Mateusz Szczepaniak and Maciej Janowski combined for another home maximum in heat 12 to open a double-figure margin - too late for Eagles to send out tactical rider.

Joonas Kylmakorpi was the pick of the Eagles with four wins in his 16 points.

Lukas Dryml and Denis Gizatullin missed this re-arranged fixture due to prior engagements in their domestic leagues.

Lynn were without their No.1 Niels Kristian Iversen for the same reason.

Eagles stay third, ahead of a Lakeside outfit who have meetings in hand.

Hammers went down 55-35 at Birmingham to reignite the Brummies' play-off hopes.

Peterborough are also in the race although they were hammered 56-33 at Poole last night.

King's Lynn: Szczepaniak 13+1 (6), Schlein 11 (5), Wolbert 7+3 (4), Janowski 6+2 (4), Korneliussen 5+1 (4), Ostergaard 5+1 (4), Nermark 4+1 (3).

Eagles: Kylmakorpi 16 (6), Woodward 9+1 (6), Lahti 6+1 (6), Wells 5+2 (4), Gustafsson 3 (5), Schramm 0 (3), Bridger r/r.
