Britain's hockey men were beaten 3-1 by Australia in their bronze medal play-off at the Riverbank Arena today.

Irish defender Iain Lewers equalised in the first half, when East Grinstead team-mate Ashley Jackson set him up from a penalty corner, but Australia were good value for their victory.

Simon Orchard fired the world No.1's ahead. Jamie Dwyer scrambled them back into the lead after the break from a penalty corner and Kieran Govers volleyed their third after GB keeper James Fair blocked Dwyer's shot on the turn.

The result means a GB side also containing East Grinstead players Barry Middleton and Glenn Kirkham plus ex-Lewes veteran Ben Hawes matched their No. 4 world ranking.
