New signings on bench for Reds

Loan signings Jonathan Forte and Nicky Ajose are named on the bench for Crawley's League One opener against Scunthorpe at Broadfield Stadium.

The strikers, who joined on loan from Southampton and Peterborough respectively yesterday, have to be content with a place among the substitutes as boss Richie Barker sticks with the starting XI which beat Millwall in the Capital One Cup in midweek.

Defender Mark Connolly has recovered from a bang to the hip to keep his place and will make his league debut for the club along with Paul Jones, Mat Sadler and Nicky Adams.

Crawley (4-4-2): Jones; Connolly, McFadzean, Davis, Sadler; Adams, Simpson, Akpan, Bulman; Clarke, Alexander. Subs from: Torres, Forte, Hunt, Ajose, Cooper, Neilson, Kuipers.

Scunthorpe (4-4-2): Slocombe; Ribeirp, Mirfin, Newey, Kennedy; Ryan, Barcham, Dufy, Walker; Grant, Grella. Subs from: Jennings, Severn, Gibbons, Canavan, Hughes, Howe, Keegan.
