Boss Richie Barker warned Crawley they must tighten up defensively despite opening their League One campaign with a 3-0 victory over Scunthorpe United.

Two goals from Gary Alexander and a late effort from new signing Jonathan Forte wrapped up the points with the Iron being reduced to ten men late on when Ryan Duffy was shown a second yellow card.

Scunthorpe were left to rue a host of missed chances and although he was delighted with the result Barker admits there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Barker said: "It wasn't perfect and I was a bit disappointed with the amount of chances they created but in terms of the result it was excellent.

"We looked a bit nervous which is understandable and in League One you are never going to dominate a game all the way through no matter who you are playing against.

"In the second half they had more chances than us and in truth it could have finished 6-3. We've only had five training sessions together so far so we just have to continue to work hard to improve."

Still think CTFC need another midfielder to 'round off' the squad and possibly a goalie if Kuipers is going to concentrate on coaching.
