Wednesday unhappy at free-kick verdict
Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones believes his side were victims of a harsh free-kick decision at The Amex.
But he admits The Owls are playing catch-up on Albion.
Wednesday were beaten 3-0 with the key first goal coming from a free-kick conceded by Spanish defender Miguel Llera.
Jones said: “We are still trying to do things at this level.
“They (Albion) have probably been doing it a lot longer than we have.
“The biggest thing for me is we have got to cut out some of the basic errors we make defensively.
“We are asking them to get the ball down and play but there are times when you just put your foot through it and clear your lines.
“The first goal was a bit harsh because it was a double deflection.
“We weren’t set up right.”
Jones added of the free-kick award: “The referee tells me he (Llera) has won the ball and it was his follow through (that was penalised).
“I can’t understand that.
“He won the ball. I don’t know where else his body is going to go.
“That was a bit harsh but the two second-half goals were goals we could stop defensively.”
