Skipper Gary Alexander hailed a fantastic team performance after his brace earned Crawley a 2-1 win at Preston North End.

Alexander struck twice in the space of five minutes early in the second half to put Reds in command with Preston grabbing a late consolation through Paul Huntingdon.

The victory lifted Crawley to fourth in the League One table and Alexander said: "I thought it was a fantastic team performance.

"You've got to give credit to the back four and goalkeeper and if I had not lost my man at the end there we would have had a clean sheet.

"Luckily we were already two up at that point and it didn't cost us."

Crawley were missing suspended duo Hope Akpan and Josh Simpson along with the injured Claude Davis and Sergio Torres but ran out deserving winners.

Boss Richie Barker added: "I thought we were the better team for probably 75% of the game. We had to withstand some pressure but you expect that away from home and we stuck to our task well."

The away fans gave huge support towards a massive day for the club. Our drum was confiscated before the match but made a remarkable reappearance at half time. Drummer Ross then beat to orders for twenty mins as Gary claimed brace of goals right in front of us. Amazingly it was then re siezed apparently because it was being used in an unsafe manner !!
Sour grapes if you ask me.
What a fantastic day for everyone connected. To go an outplay and beat a traditional league team on their own patch was breathtaking and lead to a rocking coach all the way back to Sussex.
Roll on Colchester on Tuesday !

Great performance with their manager Westley doing all he could to pressure the referee (a thinner a more excitable version of Steve Evans), and a shocking "assault" by their number 8 at end of first half but we kept calm second half and if the referee hadnt overruled his linesman over the free kick at the end would have been a well deserved clean sheet. Centre backs both outstanding and we played some nice football second half, and Alexander back on form! Westley needs to remember some of his "disrespectful" past before casting around for others to blame for his deficiencies.
