Crawley boss Richie Barker praised his players after they came close to knocking Swansea City out of the Capital One Cup.

Goals from Josh Simpson and Hope Akpan had put Reds 2-1 ahead against their Premier League visitors at the Broadfield Stadium.

Substitute Danny Graham equalised with 16 minutes to go and Garry Monk grabbed a stoppage time winner to break Crawley's hearts but Barker was delighted with the performance.

He said: "Everything I said to the players afterwards was positive. I'm disappointed with the goal we conceded at the end but they should all be extremely proud of themselves.

"It was not just the fact we ran them close but the manner of the performance. It was important we showed that Saturday (a 5-2 home defeat by Tranmere) was just a blip and we did that.

"We set out with a game plan to be difficult to break down and hit them on the break and we stuck to it well."
