Sussex's Holly Colvin starred as England opened their World Twenty20 campaign with an emphatic victory over Pakistan in Sri Lanka.

The former Brighton College pupil took career best figures of 4-9 from 3.4 overs as Pakistan were dismissed for 90 chasing England's total of 133-6 at Galle.

The left-arm spinner had Pakistan's top scorer Javier Khan caught by Danielle Hazell for 23 before dismissing Nida Dar and Marina Iqbal in successive balls. She wrapped up the Pakistan innings when last batsman Sadia Yousuff was caught by Lydia Greenway.

Earlier, Sussex's Sarah Taylor had suffered a rare failure with the bat when she was bowled for just eight. Taylor came in after Charlotte Edwards (45) and Laura Marsh (54) had put on 102 for the opening wicket.

Sussex all-rounder Arran Brindle made 12 and did not bowl.
