Reds relish another long trek
10:30am Saturday 29th September 2012 in Sport By Steve Hollis
Crawley had a fine win at Preston recently
Crawley boss Richie Barker has challenged his northern raiders to pull off another shock today.
Reds have returned from long trips to Doncaster and Preston with maximum points this season and will be looking to pull off a surprise at Carlisle.
Crawley’s home form has stuttered in recent weeks with consecutive defeats against Portsmouth, Tranmere and Swansea taking some of the gloss an otherwise impressive start.
Carlisle have lost just twice in eight home games so far this season – including against Tottenham in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night – but Barker is optimistic Reds can spring another shock result.
Barker said: “Playing away suits our style of play because when the opposition comes out and attacks us it allows us to play our football a bit more.
“We are good on the counter attack as we have some good athletes in the team so sometimes we are able to capitalise on that.
“Also I think some clubs think it is just Crawley Town when we go there and we like to prove we are not just little Crawley anymore. We have caught a few teams by surprise and I would like to think we can catch a few more out too if they underestimate us.”
