Reds hand league debuts to Walsh and Byrne

Joe Walsh and Nathan Byrne keep their places in defence for Crawley's clash with Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

Both played in the midweek cup defeat to Swansea City but Byrne makes his league debut for Reds while Walsh makes his first start in League One.

Walsh partners Claude Davis in the centre with Kyle McFadzean ruled out with a hip injury while on-loan Tottenham youngster Byrne plays on the right.

Boss Richie Barker has made three changes to the side which went down 3-2 to Swansea with strikes Gary Alexander and Nicky Ajose returning at the expense of Jonathan Forte and Billy Clarke and Mike Jones - who was cup-tied - replacing Dannie Bulman.

Shaun Cooper has not recovered in time from a groin injury to be part of the matchday squad despite travelling to Cumbria.

Carlisle make one change to the side which lost 3-0 to Tottenham in the Capital One Cup in midweek with on-loan Watford striker Joe Garner returning in place of Kallum Higginbotham.

Carlisle (4-4-2): Gillespie; Simek, Livesey, Murphy, Chantler; McGovern, Thirlwell, Berrett, Robson; Cadamarteri, Garner. Subs: Collin, Noble, Edwards, Pots, Beck, Symington, Higginbotham.

Crawley (4-4-2): P Jones; Byrne, Davis, Walsh, Sadler; M Jones, Simpson, Akpan, Adams; Ajose, Alexander. Subs: Kuipers, Connolly, Hunt, Bulman, Torres, Forte, Clarke.
