Sussex trio Sarah Taylor, Arran Brindle and Holly Colvin suffered disappointment as England lost to Australia in a dramatic final of the World Twenty20. Colvin took 2-21 as Australia set a formidable target of 142-4 from their 20 overs after being put into bat. The left-arm spinner had opener Meg Lanning caught and bowled for 25 and also picked up the wicket of top scorer Jess Cameron for 45. Taylor made 19 and Brindle 13 as England slipped to 86-5 after 13.5 overs under the pressure of trying to keep up with the run rate. They required 23 off the last 12 balls when Colvin walked to the crease and the former Brighton College pupil hit a boundary to keep their hopes alive but they fell four runs short.
