Reds duo back in training
12:00pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in Sport By Howard Griggs
Claude Davis, right, is training again
CLAUDE DAVIS and Shaun Cooper are back in training for Crawley Town.
But neither is expected to feature in tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie away to Brentford.
Jamaica international Davis missed Saturday’s league game at Brentford due to a thigh strain while Cooper has been ruled out of the last five matches with a groin problem.
The pair returned to training yesterday, although they worked separately from the main squad.
Manager Richie Barker said: “They both did some sort of training but tonight might be a little too soon for them.”
Barker is likely to freshen things up with his line-up as the Reds return to Griffin Park just three days after going down 2-1 in a League One encounter.
The Reds boss admitted it is not ideal facing the Bees in successive matches.
He said: “It might have been ideal if we had won the game on Saturday. Having lost that game, it is not great.
“You want different challenges which is why playing the same side twice in four days is not great.”
Barker reported a couple of niggles but no major injury concerns ahead of the game. The winners of tonight’s tie will progress to the Southern Area quarter-finals.
