Sussex have confirmed Ed Joyce as their permanent captain for the 2013 season. Joyce took over the captaincy on a temporary basis towards the end of last season following the decision of Mike Yardy to step down. The 34-year-old batsman will continue in the role next summer in all formats of the game with Chris Nash installed as vice-captain. Joyce said: “It is a great honour and privilege for me to be given the chance to captain Sussex in 2013. "I hugely enjoyed doing the job for the last few months of the 2012 season and, having gone close this year, I feel very strongly we can bring some silverware back to Hove next year." Coach Mark Robinson said: "Ed stepped in to Michael’s shoes seamlessly last season and formed a strong alliance with Nashy. They both bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and I am excited at working with them for the good of Sussex cricket." Meanwhile, former Sussex batsman Murray Goodwin has signed a one-year deal at Glamorgan. The 39-year-old left Hove at the end of the summer following 12 successful years at Hove. Glamorgan head of elite performance Matthew Mott said: “Murray has played the best part of his career at Sussex and had a massive affect on Sussex cricket, so we can't wait to have him in the squad." Goodwin added: "I have had lengthy conversations with Matthew Mott and am aware of the challenges the team faced last year and the hard work that lies ahead of us, but I am determined to help bring success back to the club. I feel I still have a lot to offer in all formats of the game."
