Chris Hughton expects Solly March to play in Albion under-23s’ next match.
The winger signed a four-year deal on Tuesday afternoon – at about the time he had been expected to be preparing to face Stevenage in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Hughton told The Argus March had been put through a tough training session instead as Albion tread carefully with his return.
He is looking at the development squad’s game with Blackburn at Crawley a week on Monday as a return date for the England under-21 international.
March was sidelined for almost nine months by a serious knee injury and has since suffered a shin problem.
Hughton told The Argus: “I’m delighted because, before the injury last year, Solly was playing as well as I’ve ever seen him.
“He trained on Tuesday, when it was a really hard session, and there was no reaction afterwards, which is great.
“Hopefully he goes from strength to strength now and plays the next game.”
Albion are continuing to assess Beram Kayal (ankle) during the international break.
