LuaLua stakes claim for a recall
9:00am Tuesday 30th October 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Kazenga LuaLua featured for the development team yesterday
Kazenga LuaLua is sweating on a recall to the first team squad in front of the TV cameras against Leeds United after an outing for the development team.
The winger played for three-quarters of yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Charlton at The Valley.
LuaLua travelled to Blackpool but did not make the bench for Saturday’s 1-1 stalemate at Bloomfield Road.
The former Newcastle flyer could return to contention on Friday night for the Sky televised visit by Leeds to The Amex, where he has made the majority of his appearances.
Inigo Calderon and Matt Sparrow also featured as over-aged players for the development team in front of manager Gus Poyet.
LuaLua, Calderon and Toby Agdestein were all denied by keeper David Button in the first half. Charlton, managed by former Albion favourite Nathan Jones, almost snatched victory in the closing stages when Callum Harriott’s 20-yard curler struck a post.
Albion: East, Sampayo, McGiveron, Calderon, Dunk, Sparrow, March, Gateway, LuaLua (Goodwin, 64), Barker, Agdestein (Rodgers, 64). Unused subs: Smith, Richards, Jones, Akubuine.

Like all players (and perhaps more than some) Kazenga thrives on confidence. It cant be easy to develop confidence when you're in and out of the side, on and off the bench, meaning every minute you're on the pitch you're under pressure to perform. In Kaz's case I think this sometimes leads to him trying too hard, like going for the spectacular shot when the pass may be the better option. I don't think we've seen the best of him, we just don't see enough of him and I think he deserves a run in the side (although I wouldn't drop Buckley to make way). The confidence thing was very evident at Blackpool - we sat back and let them come at us: didn't have the confidence in our own abilities going forward. I hope we properly go for it gainst Leeds on Friday and produce the sort of CMS-led performance we delivered in the second half of the same fixture last season (without the stupid late goal against).
Id really like to see us back to basics Friday evening with a 4-4-2 formation and an attacking intent from the start.
It wont happen but id love to see the following line up start against Leeds.
Your opinions as always are always welcome.
Kuz
Bruno, Greer, El abd, Bridge
Buckley, Bridcutt, Crofts, Orlandi
Cms, Toby.
Subs, Barnes, Lualua, Dunk, Calderon, Ank, Lopez and Dobbie.
Id add that although Dobbie has struggled thus far i do believe that he will come good for us given a formation that suits him and some confidence. Blackpool took us apart on Saturday and they were extremely keen to take him back, he must have something...

Kaz is a good player, but again doesnt get enough starts. We have far too many midfielders. I understand that Gus like competition, but unless your team is stretched, playing in Europe as well as in this country, then team B don't enough of a chance to shine. Its almost like the players would be praying for a colleague to get an injury

Shocking when you think we have two true strikers CMS and Hoskins. Toby and Dickenson just in case.
Anyways, bring on three points Friday!

Front two CMS and Barker with Lualua in the hole behind them.
Back five picks it's self.
Croft, Orlandi and Lopez.
A dangerous line up but one that should produce goals and goals have been demanded.
Both CMS and Lua Lua have the pace to get back and help if and when needed.

And in reply to your previous post, it's not going to be to start slagging birthday boy Barnes off today, even if Tommy(aged)11 does think that by not doing so doesn't make me a 'proper' fan...

LuaLua will come good and so will our season. Every team goes through a blip, look at Southampton last season between December and January, they couldn't score to save their lives and where are they now?

Get the win on Friday, smash Peterborough and we will be flying again
Look for positives folks! Great stadium, great Harverys, great pies and great staffing set up. Can we now get back to being great fans please

Cardiff will go up because they have signed Noone, we will end up nowhere. We've now got Dobbie who is nowhere near as good as Nooney....what a bad bit of business!!!
Let's just see where we are when all the new recruits have settled in a bit, and got more time on the pitch...

How many of those minutes was he sharing the park with CMS?
With all the injuries we have had over the last several weeks how much time has he had to find his place within a settled line up?
Some on here are so quick to condemn and they clearly don't look any further than the last result or the next game. Perhaps the same people think that we should have got rid of CMS when he couldn't find the net in the first few games.

The list of 'not-really-doing-it
-at-the- moment' players is quite long, unfortunately for the management team who've invested money and faith in them (not to mention the supporters).
Still, Friday comes and that's as good a day as any to beat not so mighty Leeds. If that can be achieved with a bit of the quality stuff shown earlier this season, so much the better...

One thing I know for sure - football supporters are the most fickle bunch. After 2 home victories we will again think we are world beaters.
Every game I go to at the Amex I just think how lucky we are. What a fantastic management team to bring us the stadium, good quality football, beer and pies. Everyone has a right to moan, but some people here do nothing else!
PS who was top scorer last season?

Lua Lua is I think a bit like Noone in as much he remains very much a work in progress. Sometimes when he comes on as a sub, he can destroy the opposition and is a joy to watch ie another one of those bums off seats type of player.Had he been able to show some consistency of performance, I doubt Newcastle would ever have got rid.

iker and not a winger,Dobbie/ attacking MF and not an out and out striker. It would be good to see at least one true winger for the whole 90 mins, and played in a way that wont compromise Bridge or Bruno`s foray`s down the flanks, and finally give Orlandi a bit of a free hand to take the predictability out of our set-up.And who knows, maybe even bring Kaz on and tell him to run at their backs and enjoy himself ,which he does`nt seem to be at the moment. But please Hammond start scoring some of these easy chances that have been coming your way.8 goals against 2 Yorkshire sides at the Amex, does that mean 4-0 on friday?. Hows that for finishing positively?..UTA

Gus has far greater knowledge than me and hios team seecton have been resticted due to injuries ossible team could be
