Albion will not make Sparrow an early Christmas present
5:00pm Monday 12th November 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Matt Sparrow is wanted by his old club Scunthorpe
ALBION are refusing to let Christmas come early for Scunthorpe by allowing Matt Sparrow to rejoin them on the cheap.
The cash-strapped League One strugglers want to re-sign on loan the midfielder who served them for 11 years before leaving for the Seagulls.
Sparrow has not been part of Albion’s first team plans since the start of the season but Scunthorpe have to agree a deal over his wages before the loan deadline expires a week on Thursday.
Albion boss Gus Poyet said: “We have got no problem with Matt going to Scunthorpe but there is a negotiation. We don’t give presents.
“We help people but we are not Santa Claus, not yet. December (25th) is still a month-and-a-half away.”
Albion’s 19-year-old development squad striker Ben Dickenson celebrated his Football League debut on a month’s loan to Chesterfield with a goal in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers. Poyet said: “I am pleased for him, because he is a player we are looking forward in the future to having in the first team.”

Hard to believe that our regular midfielders - Bridcutt, Crofts, Dicker, Hammond, Lopez and Orlandi - have yet to score ONE goal between them this season. Not saying Sparrow is better than any of them but at least he scores the odd goal here and there.

I am of the opinon that Lopez will deliver he needs more time, just as Dobbie did. Quality players are quality players even if they don't hit the ground running right from the get go. .

I would agree with that, my point, is he going to be just another name on the squad sheet, that are not going to be utilised along with the other half a dozen who appear on the team sheet as a sub and yet are rarely or never used.

We are becoming a graveyard of unused or unwanted players, who is buying them?, Lopez looks like another unless he was purchased to play cards with Vicente, I think everything is not roses in the back rooms of the Amex let alone the results on the pitch.
