Albion cruise to home win
9:43pm Tuesday 27th November 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Albion secured a much-needed home win as they beat Bristol City 2-0 at The Amex tonight.
Dean Hammond and Andrea Orlandi both scored in the first 26 minutes to secure a routine victory.
The Seagulls needed just six minutes to go ahead as Hammond headed home Liam Bridcutt’s cross after Orlandi had played a free-kick short.
Another Orlandi free-kick – again after Will Buckley was fouled down the right – brought an even simpler second goal 20 minutes later.
This time the former Swansea midfielder saw his intended cross swirl straight in from long range as defender Matthew Bates and keeper Tom Heaton got in a mix-up trying to deal with it.
Orlandi then curled just past the top corner.
City had plenty of possession and twice went close to halving the arrears.
Stephen Pearson shot against the top of the bar and Gordon Greer slid in to block a goalbound Neil Danns shot.
Orlandi fired over and Will Hoskins was denied by Heaton when clean through, both straight after the break.
But the near things did not matter this time as Albion cruised through an unremarkable second half.

For me at this part of the season, Barnes is not up to it. Play Hoskin for a month and stick Barnes in the reserves, let his hunger build up. Then unleash him and he'll score like theres no tomorrow.
Happy Gus used his balls for a change although Dob's should've played longer

Neither Hoskins or Dobbie got on the score sheet and Dobbie only played for 60 minutes. Going solely by the BBC text commentary, and that is often wrong, Dobbie didn't manage a shot and Hoskins had two, is that about right?
As glad as I am that Gus bit the bullet and made the changes up front, it doesn't seem to have worked or did the text commentary miss a whole lot out.
I think our performance against Bolton, if the text commmentary was right, should give us more hope against Palace than that of today.
I am looking forward to reading the posts of those that were there to get the real linfo on today's match.

They played a poor side tonight, but made Bolton look poor Saturday with passing..
I hope Gus does not try and shock palace with a tactical change .. We are capable of winning this league,
Still one or two short in my opinion.

Agree with something Mbts states in that I also believe we have enough to win this division with only a couple more key additions.

Made worse by the utterly disgusting behaviour of the stewards who were removing Albion fans for no good reason from the North Stand. BHAFC you should be ashamed of yourselves for treating your fans in this manner. 10 stewards and several police officers are not required to remove a pensioner who is a season ticket holder for simply not sitting down on request. Disgraseful!

Still convinced that is our best partnership. Hoskins needs a run in the side but he's definitely a more intelligent player than Barnes by far. Keep Barnes and Dobbie on the bench.

Pretty poor game, in all honesty. But three good points. Thats all that matters over a season.

A double change in strike force and the goals came from Midfield.
