Bruno will beat pain to play in derby
9:00am Thursday 29th November 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Bruno
Bruno is on course for his first Albion derby – despite playing through pain against Bristol City.
The popular Spanish right-back has been troubled by a bruised rib first sustained in the win at Millwall in September.
He caused alarm among fans yesterday when he revealed via Facebook that he was struggling with a painful rib and “worried” about his participation at arch rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday.
But boss Gus Poyet has eased fears that his former Valencia man will miss what could be a fascinating tussle with Palace’s star widemen Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie.
Poyet said: “It was painful but he got through so I’m pleased for him.
“It was getting worse by the end of the game but he finished well.
“When you have got a knock you can be all right during the game but when you are tired afterwards you start suffering a bit.
“He was in pain for the last 15 minutes of the Bristol City game and I needed to ask him two or three times how he was before I made the last change.
“But he finished the game which means 99% he should recover today in time to play on Saturday.”
Bruno took an accidental back heel to the ribs at Millwall in a game which later saw him go off with a groin injury.
He only felt pain again when he landed on the same spot in the 1-1 draw with Bolton on Saturday.
The defender was still hurting on Tuesday but said: “I’ve got no problem playing with pain.”

Top bloke, it's a pity one of his countrymen doesn't show the same grit and passion for the club.

If the gun is pointing at your head, either we lose Bridge at the end of the season or Bruno, one HAS to go, which do you choose to keep and why?
Yes this is only for fun.

I would choose to keep Bruno, not because he is a better player,i dont in all honesty think there is anything to seperate them. They both share some qualities, and have their own distinct impact on the game.
It`s tough, they both read the game well, show more than a little skill on the ball, both make great runs and put a good cross in. Neither have blistering pace, but are not often caught out. Again, they have both played at the highest level so big games like saturday are food and drink to them.
All in all they complement each other in the team and are largely responsible for how well we are doing. Only money would make me choose one over the other, and at the current time,i think it would be harder to find the money for WB than Bruno. UTA

Cruelty, me, nahh not me -:)
I agree with you, Bruno would be my choice too. As you say there is not a lot between them.
I have a gut feeling that as much as Bridge is enjoying himself with Brighton, and he has stated that, his future lies over here. Bruno seems to me like a guy that sees a chance to go further with Brighton, I don't know why I think that I just do, as I said a gut feeling.

I agree very little between them, but I think I'd prefer Bridge to stay if it was a straight choice, because I believe Calderon would be better filling in Bruno's shoes than Painter would be for Bridge. Ideally we'll keep both of them and be playing premiership next season !! Hope you dont mind me butting in ?

Good to hear from you, and I sort of get your thinking.
If Bridge were to go under the terms of my question, I don't think my choice would be based on who would replace him from our current squad.
We only have one Wayne Bridge and to replace him would mean that we would need to buy another. Bruno seems top be shaping up into another Bridge, he seems to be getting better with each month that passes. I suppose what I am saying is, Bridge is the finished product but Bruno has yet to reach his peak and he could turn out to be amazing, possibly better than Bridge.

Only one of them is a nailed on Premiership quality player and it's not the one who nearly left us for the Prem in August!!!
The longer Buckley stays with us the better in my book!!!!!!

Yes I agree, for me Buckley is showing masses of promise for the future but I have to say, CMS could be a surprise package in the prem as one would think that he would have a few new players around him.
I think Buckley is showing all the hallmarks of a top flight player. Today I am not sure if he is better than CMS but it does look like tomorrow he might well be.

A gift of 6 million is given to the club but it must all be used to buy either one player or two. No one can be sold to add to the money or make it easier to select a starting eleven.
Who, how many and why.

Plays for Real Mallorca 25 years old good for a few seasons deceptively strong although tall and leggy Isreali international fast wins balls in the air very strong shot for CMS (I think the reason Gus doesn't play two up front because he hasn't the right players to do so) to catch the rebounds think you could get him for 3 to 4m
