Early start in front of the cameras for Albion in the FA Cup

Albion's FA Cup tie against Newcastle has been selected for live ITV coverage.

The kick-off for the third round clash at The Amex on Saturday January 5 has been moved forward as a result to 12.30pm.

Albion knocked Newcastle out at The Amex in the fourth round last year, Will Buckley scoring the only goal.

Their chances of staging a repeat have been improved by the absence of the Toon's influential French midfielder Yohan Cabaye until February following groin surgery.

Albion boss Gus Poyet told The Argus: "There could be an extra bit on it, because of last year. It's a Premiership club with a great fan base, so it's going to be a nice game.

"They've had injuries to very key players. When (Fabricio) Coloccini hasn't been playing they pay a little bit at the back. Cabaye is an absolutely key player in the middle and Ben Arfa can really open up any defence when it's tight.

"Everybody knows, if they are all fit, Newcastle are an absolutely fantastic team to watch."

Amex season ticket holders can claim their seat via the auto-cup scheme. See the club website, www.seagulls.co.uk, for full details.

Just read a piece on skysports (link below) what a grounded guy he appears to be. I am not surprised Swansea are where they are given his outlook on the game.

Many things are more important despite what Bill Shankly used to say.

I reckon this is Albion's first LIVE game on terrestrial TV since the FA Cup win over Liverpool in 1984 - will be 29 years. Think of all the LIVE games on BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV4 and Channel 5 since then!

You might be right

Funny enough the Liverpool game last year was shown live on the German DSF channel
As for the BBC am I right in thinking that the next live football scheduled is not until the next World cup

Strange times

This means a 4:30 am start for the West Coast...my club loyalty will be severely challenged. Watch online so no way of recording. Hang on a minute, why don't I just stay up all night and drink beer, and go to bed afterwards? Yeah, that's it!!

Would be a terrific scalp for us. They're not playing well, lots of injuries to key players. I fancy us to get a result here.

I thought at first that the early kick off was to deter all the Geordies from drinking al the Harveys, as they'll be pressed to make game time, but then I realized that they'll come down the night before, get drunk and sleep on the beach....In January...

Interesting times. Up the Albion!
