Calderon praised - but he might miss out
12:00pm Saturday 8th December 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Inigo Calderon
Inigo Calderon has been praised for his professionalism – but he is still facing the axe.
The Spanish defender will be back on the bench at Charlton today, where he has scored in Albion’s last two visits, if Wayne Bridge (calf), Adam El-Abd (hamstring) and fellow countryman Bruno (calf) are all passed fit.
Calderon has started only three of Albion’s 20 Championship outings this season. Manager Gus Poyet said: “It’s a difficult situation for him. I think we all realise his best position is right-back and Bruno has been one of the most consistent players at a very good level.
“Then, because of how he is, how he trains and looks after himself, how professional he is, we have been playing him everywhere we could.
“It’s frustrating for him but great for me and the team to have a player like Calde.”
Andrew Crofts, Gary Dicker and David are competing for a midfield start, with Andrea Orlandi ruled out for up to six weeks by a broken rib.
Charlton striker Danny Haynes has now fully recovered from a recent hamstring problem and is hoping to get the chance to test Albion’s back-line today
