Defenders back, changes in attack
2:08pm Saturday 8th December 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Stephen Dobbie starts today
Albion welcome back two key defenders – and make big changes in attack – as they tackle Charlton today.
Fit-again Wayne Bridge and Adam El-Abd return at the back in place of Inigo Calderon and the suspended Lewis Dunk.
Boss Gus Poyet will unleash Will Hoskins, Stephen Dobbie and Craig Mackail-Smith in the same line-up, combining with Will Buckley in a new-look attacking quartet.
Dean Hammond and Liam Bridcutt will sit deeper in midfield.
Ashley Barnes misses out while Andrea Orlandi is absent with a rib injury.
Albion will be backed by about 3,000 fans today and will be keen to erase some of the bad memories from last week’s 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
They face a Charlton side who are unbeaten in six games and have conceded just one goal – a penalty – in their last five outings.
The hosts bring back central defender Michael Morrison, banned for the 0-0 draw at Millwall last week, in place of Leon Cort.
Dany Haynes comes into attack in place of Yann Kermogant.
Charlton: Hamer; Wilson, Dervite, Morrison, Solly; Pritchard, Frimpong, Stephens, Jackson; Haynes, Hulse. Subs: Button, Cort, Taylor, Green, Kerkar, Wright-Phillips, Kermorgant.
Albion: Kuszczak; Bruno, Greer, El-Abd, Bridge; Bridcutt, Hammond, Dobbie; Buckley, Hoskins, Mackail-Smith. Subs: Brezovan, Calderon, Barnes, Harley, Crofts, LuaLua, David.

I also suggested that CMS might adopt more of an attacking midfield role with Hoskins as the lone striker, I wonder if that will happen too.
I like this line up, we have more fire power and the option of playing two strikers if we go a goal down. .
I think this line up also suggests that El-Abd and Bridge might stay at home more rather than raid from deep, maybe they are not 100% percent fit but fit enough to play.
Nice one Gus, I hope this works for you and that both Hoskins and Dobbie take their chance and find the back of the net.

I see that waste of space Harley is on the bench.

I actually suggested attack minded line up yesterday or the day before, no way did I think it would happen.

Now we will see if the Albion can (a) breach the tight Charlton defence and (b) come from behind. Fingers crosses but not confident.

Some interesting HT score lines, we need a go ahead goal to jump into top 6.
