Albion fight back for a point
5:20pm Saturday 8th December 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Albion twice came from behind to secure a well-deserved 2-2 draw at Charlton today.
Craig Mackail-Smith took his goal tally into double figures and Kazenga LuaLua came off the bench to hit his first of the season and secure the point.
Albion, roared on by more than 3,000 fans, arguably deserved even more on the day Charlton celebrated 20 years back at The Valley.
The hosts took an early lead when Lawrie Wilson appeared to get a touch on a near-post corner.
Poor defending at the other end gave Mackail-Smith the chance to burst clear and level on 28 minutes with a fine right-foot finish.
Albion had chances after the break but were behind again on 70 minutes when a low cross was forced home by Bradley Pritchard.
LuaLua levelled with a free-kick won by fellow sub Ashley Barnes just outside the area five minutes later.
His shot took a deflection to leave home keeper Ben Hamer helpless and spark delirium in the packed stand right behind him.

Glad we at least got a point, but should have put the game to bed by at least half way through the second half.
Opening team selection is what the fans have been wanting. Dobbie 'fluffed his lines, and might not get a start ahead of Ashley for a while.
We must start putting these chances away if we want to stay in touch of the leaders in this division.
What would we give for a Charlie Austin?
The goals updates on the Seagulls Player commentary have been absolute 'pants' for the last three weeks. Can anything be done?

Only one point off the play off places though, but not at all convinced about the sides credentials.

Gus you beauty,i really think the team choice kept us from being the sacrificial lamb at Charltons feast today. Please play this set-up more often, especially at home.
KAZ could not be more happy, welcome back. UTA

Gus started with a line up that on paper was very geared to winning the game, maybe today was the prelude to what is to come in our next couple of home games.
All in all a good days work by all those involved.

DEFENCE is how it we spell it.
(and it is what surrounds my garden).
Your long distance support is to be commended though, so keep your posts coming.

I guess it's true to say that at times I post a lot of 'garbage' but it all comes from the heart.
I was really hoping that we could have got the 'go ahead goal' and taken all three points but that was not to be.
I was talking about the match with a couple of my 'pals' last night in my local 'bar,' it took a while for them to understand my passion for the club but at least they now know that the UK has a city called Brighton and that I was not refering to any of the three that exist over here.
Well that's all from me, I 'gotta' make coffee for the wife before I 'head out to the store,' food to be bought.
'Now you have a nice day,' and I promise that I will not go all american.

Gee Jay, now 'you'all' know that that 'soccor' is my sport and Brighton is my team so my long distance support is a 'shoe in.'

You dont post a lot of garbage,or at least no more or less than most, take it from someone who cringes when he reads back some of his own posts.
Yesterdays game was always going to be hard, its a mark of our sides quality, that we maybe should have won.
Have a nice day yourself and your lady wife.
But its still FOOTBALL!!!!. huh..foreigners!.UTA

Gus has the team playing good football, we have some style but we are also lacking in certain areas.
There can be very few teams that have found success without one or two players in the team that can score using their head rather than their foot.
In CMS I think we have a fine striker but we are lacking that goal poacher who just seems to be in the right place at the right time.
The defensive work that our midfield get thru is good but that same unit doesn't seem to be able to deliver the same quality when going forward, the play maker is not there.
You are right, yesterday's point was a good one, we battled back twice to get that point, as I said we are a good team. When we are a better team we will take on clubs such as Charlton away and beat them. From all that I have read the result yesterday was a fair one for both teams.

BBC stats indicate that BHA had 59 percent of the possession. Interested in hearing the views. Of those at the match.
Judging from the info being reported it looked as if Hosko was pretty involved winning a number of free kicks. Good to see CMS on the score sheet - he has already equalled the number of goals he got last year and we haven't reached this season's half way point yet.
