Poyet frustrated by lack of goals

Will Hoskins battles for the ball against Forest Will Hoskins battles for the ball against Forest

Gus Poyet bemoaned Albion's lack of a cutting edge following their goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Albion chief was pleased with how his side played after creating a host of chances in the first half.

However, they managed just one shot on target before the interval and were frustrated by a Forest side who tightened up in the second half.

Poyet said: "In a game normally you are going to have a period when you dominate and when you are on top you need to score. If you score, then how many. Then you can relax.

"When you don't it starts playing in your head and you start worrying a little about not conceding and that is what happened in the second half.

"They changed as well so credit to them.

"The big message at half-time was at least to make Camp work. We had 11 shots off target (in the first half) which was quite embarrassing."

Having now re-read what Poyet said, what excuses is he making? He COULD have said that Halford should have been sent off. He COULD have bemoaned a fine goalkeeping display by Lee Camp. He COULD have claimed this that and the other. He didn't. He's saying we should have won - would any of us disagree with that?

The festive season and Jacob Marley, played by Glenn Murray, is haunting many Albion supporters. Jacob gave Scrooge a warning of what would happen if he did not change. Albion please note. January needs to see us do something.

If a team is akin to a machine, and the machine works extremely well all but one part, how long until the rest of the parts start to suffer as a consequence.

We are regularly outplaying and outclassing other teams, and the players aren`t benefiting from the effort they are putting in.

A new striker ,to help the current squad with what we are obviously lacking is vital,in this transfer window, and before it effects the players moral.

As for us supporters ,we will always plod on. UTA

Agreed, what excuses? An honest assessment of the match. What do people want him to talk about at a post match press conference? We had plenty of chances and failed to hit the target often enough. I am sure if the funds had been available in the summer, he would have taken someone like Jordan Rhodes - just the way it is. Opened Forest up at will in the first half but no conviction about the finishing. Quite disappointing at times in the second half but still had chances to win it at the end.

Poyet is merely expressing the feelings that we all have. I am glad that he didn't make excuses and simply stated the truth.

The best thing that has come from our recent performances
is that we know what is needed, it is not rocket science.
There is only one part of our game that needs to be fixed, it's not as though we have several areas that need solutions. January holds the key, we either fix it for this year or wait and fix it for next year. Gus has said that he is ready to do business so one would think that the answer will arrive sooner rather than later.

Don't Alfie . Remember he did b.... all last season. Moving on we went with a spurs season ticket holder in my camp today who was impressed ,on the positive side with the chances we created but was a pains to point out that there are no cheap fixes as many millions his side have spent and yet can't step up to the plate and score regular enough. I feel we above all need some real luck and a plan b (as usual that power/heading option ) because free kicks /corners won are simply waste. . On positive note thought Lopez getting better just struggle with realistic options as who to bring in,am wondering on why dobbie bought in with the style we play on 3 yr deal when not close to what we need . Drogba type the answer, the real thing impossible to get obviously.

No cutting edge, not clinical in the final third. Unfortunately essential characteristics for a side that wants to finish top 6. Match after match it's the same old story. Too many draws. Too many points dropped at home. The Amex is far from a fortress. Chances are it will be another draw and another 2 points dropped in the Millwall game. Fine enough if mid to upper mid table is the target but GP should be taking the club forwards not stagnating it. Urgent action is required in January before this season is past salavtion.I'm sure GP knows that only too well. Whether can tempt the right men to the club in January is another story. We await with interest and most of us go into the Millwall fixture with our anxiety levels reaching a record high. The problem is that winning is a habit and when you aren't winning matches it has an effect on morale and the psyche of the players as well as the supporters. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Success breeds success.

Oh my goodness are you seriously suggesting Poyet is stagnating this club??!!! Haha yes because we haven't come far at all since he took over!!! The man is helping to rebuild the club from top to bottom. To suggest that we are in some kind of crisis because we are 8th in the championship with the highest attendences in the league is a ridiculous thing to do. Where have you been the last 15 years??! Good things take time, great things take longer. It's frustrating we are not turning our dominance into goals but let's sit back and be so grateful for what we have!!

As for the football, we need more strength, power, and dare a say a bit more selfishness and even a touch of nastiness up front!

A fair enough assessment. Frustrating and disappointing result but I'd have to say, it was a cracking, entertaining game. We were awesome in the first half and our positive line-up of Buckley, Hoskins and CMS was a step in the right direction. We could and probably should, have scored 5 before half-time. Many chances fell to Hoskins, but unfortunately his finishing was poor, but he has enormous pressure on his shoulders having just got into the starting line-up. His link up play and ball control was first class and his ability to get into scoring positions was a huge plus, but sadly today, his efforts were off target. I see his inclusion as a big positive however and I'm sure once he gets his first goal, many more will follow. We should not let our disappointment of the result detract from a thoroughly entertaining game and Forest were no slouches. Blackstock and Sharpe were a constant threat and it says a lot of our performance that we dominated them so much in the first half. Sadly, I think CMS is a little lightweight at this level. Lots of endeavour and chasing of lost causes but not quite cutting the mustard against a tall strong defence. But I feel more positive about the future after todays display. One other mention. What a good game Inigo Calderon had today. Full marks to him for such an excellent performance and some great last ditch tackles. I'm sure he'll lose his place when Bruno is fit, but what a good pro and a great team man he is.

Most football fans are extremely blinkered but does anybody seriously think we are going to get near the playoffs this season. Just like last season, the good teams are pulling away because they win matches. We’ve only won 8 matches out of 22 (and only 3 of the last 15) and the top 4 teams are all at least 8 points ahead of us.

It’s time people stopped making excuses, the harsh fact is that - sadly - our strikers are just not good enough. CMS must be one of the most overpriced players in the history of football. Runs about a lot but has awful first touch, can’t pass accurately, can’t finish, misses countless sitters, fluffs loads of decent chances. Talk about a gullible manager being mugged. Some people thought Hoskins was the answer. Yes, he’s been injured a lot but he’s still only scored 1 goal for us and he doesn’t look as though he’ll ever score another one.

Today Hoskins and Buckley added two more to our list of sitters missed. Gus really needs to get rid of our current strike force and get in a couple of players who are capable of putting a small ball into a huge net. Of course they will cost big money but if we are genuinely serious about moving forward we have to get better strikers in. Are we really ambitious to move forward at the moment though? Our current strikers really are nowhere near good enough, whether people like to admit it or not. They’ve had enough chances and it’s clear they aren’t up to it.

All in all great game of football, there is nothing wrong with the way we play. Ok Forrest could have pinched it without merit in the end but it's another point in a long season.

I agree the attendances are fantastic but these 26,000 people want to see success on the pitch. If, dare I say it, in a couple of years time the Albion are still hovering around the middle of the Championship then the numbers could be more like 16,000 than 26,000. That will impact on the club's buying power which is why it's crucial that GP brings in the necessary reinforcements in January and goes full bore for the play offs this season. I am so convinced that we will make the playoffs at least this season that I have placed another wager to that effect.
We are IMHO playing the best football in the Championship. I wouldn't mind betting that we are there or there abouts with the best of them when it comes to attempts at goal thus far. To go one further, I'm also of the belief that we will bring in the guy we need next month. TB downwards can see that this is the only part of the puzzle missing along with possibly a CB and that powerhouse midfielder and I wouldn't mind putting my neck on the line to say that a deal may already have been struck or very close to it.
TB has done more for this club than we could ever have asked but as we all know, he likes a flutter albeit a calculated one. I honestly think that he will back GP again in January to acquire the guy that is needed. He will know that this one guy holds the key to the Premiership fortunes based on our performances and will again IMHO take that risk as he mentioned he would when the time is right in an interview he gave only a few months ago.
Very excited and incredibly positive about all of this. Watch this space...

Defense is frightening. It stems from fear, increasing fear as each defense is made. You think it offers safety. Yet it speaks of fear made real and terror justified. Is it not strange you do not pause to ask, as you elaborate your plans and make your armor thicker and your locks more tight, what you defend, and how, and against what?

If, dare I say it, in a couple of years time the Albion are still hovering around the middle of the Championship then the numbers could be more like 16,000 than 26,000. That will impact on the club's buying power which is why it's crucial that GP brings in the necessary reinforcements in January and goes full bore for the play offs this season. Grab the iron while it's still hot I say.

Pretty fair comms all round. BHAFC were superb in the first half hour, neat passing with pace (even including accurate long balls) and plenty of chances....however the finishing was woeful mainly because Hoskins, CMS and Bridge failed to hit the target. In particular Hoskin's spectacular flying volley with noone around him when it looked easier to let the ball drop or head it from barely 6 yards, and heading over from about 8 yards from a cross delivered straight on to his forehead, and CMS's scuffed shot after he had done the hard work cutting in from the left wing. When finally required to, Camp made great saves from Calderon and normally our most reliable finisher Buckley. Unfortunately this is becoming a pattern of games (home and away) - it seems we don't quite have the calm finishing you see in the premiership and many chances are snatched at or blasted or blocked. Like alot of people have been saying we are so nearly a very formidable team but lacking that final cutting edge.

Calderon was excellent and my MOM and also came closest to scoring. Would be unlucky to be dropped. Crofts also did better than Hammond usually does in the "invisible midfielder" role.

David wasted some early free kicks and corners but grew in confidence as the game went on - worth perservering with.

At least we drew, Forest had at least 3 extremely good chances and came into the game in the 2nd half but luckily their finishing was also poor.

Anyway an excellent game and atmosphere and the stadium looked superb under the lights in the torrential rain. The BBC stats showing no shots on target for either team (apart from being obviously wrong!) do not tell a true story of an entertaining match.

As I suspected in my original comments, many of our fans are just too blinkered. Do you honestly think that yesterdays performance by the strikers (and quite a few of their other performances recently) was good enough for an ambitious Championship team? We played very well, in the first half at least, we had the vast majority of the play and we had loads of chances, several of them pretty easy. Obviously no team scores from anywhere near all its chances but you need to convert a decent percentage of them and we should have been comfortably ahead by half-time. If you get thrashed or just have a bad day (as we did at Palace for instance) then fair enough. But if we are serious about getting into the play-offs we just have to win matches when we have so much of the play and so many chances. Why don't we - because our strikers are not good enough, as they demonstrated all too clearly yesterday. Our defence is fine and, unlike last saeson, we are now creating enough chances but our current attack is toothless.

On reflection this morning many of your comments on here are spot on . We are lucky to have indigo, crofts back to his early season form, lopez improving in leaps and bounds thats quite a few of gus"s signings now begining to make a difference. Forget table position we are moving forward everyone and watching good football another season in championship would be no disaster we are not going to be fighting relegation fight, i happen to think now hoskins 'in" amongst other things we will see gus set his team up far more attacking from now on .we have a solid points tally now better to win one , lose one than keep drawing.

Roll on Tuesday and a win!!

Please my friends. Please think think think. If anyone who was there yesterday really believes there were actually 26,600 something bodies in the stadium think again. I saw more empty seats than I've seen in a while. I think that the figure put out is the number of actual tickets/season tickets sold.

All our supporters are not like most of us - go rain or shine, win lose or draw. Nearly 18,000 new comers remember.

If the crowd continue being starved of GOALS, the life blood of the game, they will dwindle sadly.

Teams eventually reflect their managers. I know all will be well in the end and if its not yet all well - then it's not yet the end and more lessons need to be learned.

It's no good bemoaning about the lack of a striker at the moment, because we can not do anything about it until the transfer window opens! That said realistically we are what we are a mid table side, I think Gus felt if he could improve the back line as he did during the summer and our forwards got the opertunities this year without having to help out at the back so much that they would convert some chances to the point where CMS has lost all confidence and has resorted to all sorts of acrobatics in a bid to win free kicks this has now spread throughout the rest of the team whereby we get our selves into good positions and make the wrong choices pass instead of shoot, attempting a shot when pushing the ball the extra half yard to give a clearer shot on goal, you can even see our midfield at times hesitating rather than going forward because they know CMS can not hold the ball up and will invariably get muscled out and loose position, this does not mean he is not a good player, moreover he is attempting or being asked to do things that are not in his skill set a good skill full playmaker in the middle who can place the ball wher he needs it and a couple of goals under his belt and you would see a different player at the moment he reminds me of Teddy Maybank a Mr nearly man, I really think Gus thought that Vicente was the man? By the time we get the ball where it needs to be there is always someone there making the block or forcing a shot at the wrong moment, yes I do think we need a more powerful striker, but given that quality in the middle releasing the ball earlier and the confidence back throughout the team it might be a different story Hoskins Dobie and CMS all similar. That said prefer Hoskins to Barns at least a yard faster, Lopez after a shaky start settled down to play some good stuff he needs to play more two or three games on and we will hopefully see a different player, another striker is needed to give us options, competition and the rest of the team confidence to move forward faster and let's hope Lopez turns out to be another option for the middle his record is not that good on the scoring front?

People bang on about the some of those bought by Poyet, they seem to think that he made bad choices, I don't think enough time has passed to judge. Even if one or two don't rise to the level Poyet had thought they might, it won't be the first time a manager has made an error.

Some top players get bought and it just doesn't work for them at their new club, Torres might be a good example of that, Andy Carrol another. It matters not what the price tag is, big money doesn't always mean big success.

When Murray went to Palace his first season was crap but a year later and all is different, who is to say that those bought by Poyet will not deliver tomorrow.

There was a time when things in our lives moved slower, a letter took two days to be delivered now, e-mail and bang it's done, no more waiting for a roll of film to be developed, digital cameras give an instant result, football isn't like that.

Poyet has got us where we are and Poyet will get us where we want to be but it won't be in an instant.

So Millwall on tuesday, in the light of recent results maybe this game poses some questions.

Hoskins, does he start, should he start. I guess the options are Barnes or Dobbie for Hoskins, I think Gus will stick with Hoskins for this game but if no goals, then maybe he changes it for the next game.

David, started slow but warmed to his role, does he start should he start. I think this one is more tricky, Lua Lua might be the prefered option but again, I think Gus will give David another go.

Crofts or Hammond, Crofts no brainer for me based on yesterday only, all the reports say that Crofts had a good game.

CMS, Dobbie or Barnes, maybe a change, Gus just might throw Barnes into the action ahead of CMS and if not Barnes then Dobbie. Goals are not coming so maybe a chance for Barnes or Dobbie to try their luck working with Hoskins and Buckley.

Buckley a nailed on starter.

No changes at the back, not even if Bruno is fit.

Am I nuts or does any of the above make sense?

Goals do not and should not only come from our strikers. You correctly say that our defense is fine and you point out that in your opinion our current attack is toothless, you say nothing about our midfield.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Hammond the last midfield player to score, a few matches ago at home.

Thw whole team is failing to score, it's too easy to just pile th eblame on two or three players.

Hello Vegas. Here are my reflected thoughts on Tuesday's lineup after watching a thoroughly entertaining match on Saturday.
Same staring line up even if Bruno is fit. Hoskins is not in his ideal position but I would be very disappointed were he to make way for Barnes.
If it transpires that changes are needed come second half, then I would be expecting Dobbie and possibly Lua Lua to be involved. For me, Barnes is generally slipping out of contention.

Goals are not coming so maybe a chance for Barnes or Dobbie to try their luck working with Hoskins and Buckley. Buckley a nailed on starter. No changes at the back, not even if Bruno is fit. Am I nuts or does any of the above make sense?
Hello Vegas. Here are my reflected thoughts on Tuesday's lineup after watching a thoroughly entertaining match on Saturday. Same staring line up even if Bruno is fit. Hoskins is not in his ideal position but I would be very disappointed were he to make way for Barnes. If it transpires that changes are needed come second half, then I would be expecting Dobbie and possibly Lua Lua to be involved. For me, Barnes is generally slipping out of contention.
It's true Barnes does seem to be dropping out of favour but as we have few options up front he can't be ruled out.

I have the feeling that Gus is ready to try the surprising if only to find out if it works. I am not saying that Gus is desperate but maybe he is open to all possibilities.

Lua Lua one side Buckley the other and Dobbie with Hoskins is a tad radical but could it work, maybe with Barnes in a free role.

Changes in the second half always seem to me as a chasing ploy, we are one down and need to level. First half goals are what we need.
A few matches ago Gus dropped both Barnes and CMS, if wouldn't surprise me to see CMS on the bench again if only to try something else. I am in no way dumping on CMS when I say this.

Does Tony take charge of the training sessions each day. Does Tony fill in the team sheet prior to each match.

Tony Bloom and the board take care of finances, Gus takes care of what happens on the field.

This could have been the game, interestng. You are suggesting that this draw should have been a win where as all the other draws were correct results. I doubt if the players or manager would agree, and I know I don't.

No point picking out a single game, the fact is we have drawn far too many games this season. Until we are capable of converting 1 pont into 3 then I'm afraid we are destined to a life as the nearly boys of football.
The definition of GUSset is "A triangular insert, as in the seam of a garment, for added strength or expansion". Unfortunately I am no longer convinced that GP is giving us added strength. I am concerned he has reached his pinnacle of achievement and in order to walk the extra yard we may need a new man at the helm for next season.

I know I should reply to your post, I know you only write to provoke but I can't help myself.

Sir you have no clue as to what you are talking about, none what so ever.

Last year, our first under Gus at this level, we finished in the top ten, no mean feat.

This year, today we are sitting in 8th spot just two points out of the play-off positions.
Yes, converting chances into goals is the problem we face right now, Gus is ready to suppliment our strike force and will do so when the window opens, what more do you want from the man.

If the window came and went and we didn't do any business then yes, you might have a point, but the God **** window isn't here yet.

Are you one of these idiots that post on here that expect promotion every year. If we do go up, will you be saying Gus should go if we don't make Europe next season, champions of the prem the following year, how about the treble the year after.

As I said you have no idea of what you are talking about. Just another idiot spouting pure garbage.

We have scored fewer goals than any other teams in the top half of the table but I bet we have created more chances than any of them.It does hurt to say it but we allowed the best striker in this division to get away, will more than likely get an inferior striker in the January window that another club no longer wants and pay them more than what Murray was asking.to stay.

Yes, think you are right. Can only remember a couple of chances for Brighton in the second half, the main one coming from a misplaced back pass. I think a few of the players who haven't had much match practice tired. Notts Forest obviously had a good talking to at half time and the second half was much more even.

I would keep the same starting XI for Tuesday ie. give both Hoskins and David some further match practice to see what they can do with more time (preferably 90 mins, it must be soul destroying knowing you are nearly always going to be taken off after 60 mins!). (same goes for Dobbie at the earliest opportunity). With strikers it's all about confidence and one goal could change everything. Give Bruno another rest as Calde had a great game, or if fit bring him on as a midfielder late on! I know he's late in his career but I wonder if he is slightly wasted at right back and to be honest his attacking play seems to be better than his defence. Just throwing that out there as a slightly left field suggestion so to speak!

No you numb nuts it's not a sin to want success. It is a sin to demand it over night and call for the sacking of the manager if you don't get what you want, OVER NIGHT.

Tell me, were you happy when we got promoted.
Were you happy when we finished in the top ten last year.
Was it the fault of Gus that key players got injured, some at the same time.
Are you not pleased to hear that Gus and the board are ready, willing and able to bring in new players.
Cardiff got beat by Posh, should the manager and the back five all lose their jobs tomorrow.

Interesting suggestion regarding Calderon and I feel it has some merit. I share also your 'soul destroying' comment. I could possibly see the point of David Lopez not playing 90 mins because of lack of match minutes and he was probably tiring after an impressive return - but I felt the opportunity was clearly there yesterday for Hoskins to play the 90 mins (and taking CMS off). For me, bringing on Barnes and Hammond did not give me much of a lift or expectancy that they would turn the game

Some positives out of yesterdays game.

Biggest gate by a mile in the Championship

Performance by Crofts, by far his best in his 2nd spell.

The fact that Hoskins had the chances by being in the right place at the right time. I would suggest the reason he did not convert was lack of match practice. His hold up play was good as was his commitment. He needs more game time, he will come good.

Clean sheet but only just. We had more of the play but they should have scored too. We only deserved the draw so I don't have a problem with the result.

No bookings/sendings off.

I thought the ref was a homer inspite of the opportunity he did not take to send off Halford.

It rained a lot of the game but I didn't get wet in my seat Row B in the West Stand.

The All In One take away in Coldean prepared me and my daughter outstanding Cod and Chips with drinks all for £9.

When Brighton dip into the market in January, and it seems very likely we will, top of the shopping list will be at least one striker, it could be two. We might also see a new center back arrive, I think it's fair to say that we need one. Vicente, if the fitness reports are accurate, could also be making a come back. Our starting line up for matches at the end of january could be very different from what it is today.

I think the question will be, are we going to add to our strikers or replace one or two of them. Does Barnes go so that we can keep Hoskins, will we even keep Hoskins. I can't see CMS leaving, not unless a stupid offer comes in and Dobbie is going nowhere.

Strikers come at a premium and our wage bill will increase, will Gus have to sell in order to buy.

Our most consistent players, players on contract, will attract attention and possibly hostile bids, Bridcutt and Buckley among them. Three in is not beyond the realms of possibility and at least three out could be on the cards, I just hope that no more than one of our gems are lost to big offers.

Only a hunch Vegas but I think CMS may well depart in January. As for Will Buckley, I just hope he is one of those players that premiership clubs look at but prevaricate. I posted a long time ago that it was worth having a season ticket just to see his, what I term, old fashioned wing play - and that was before he hit his current form. I may sound crazy but, the form of CMS recently may actually keep him at Brighton. Scouts would see the chances being created for him and they will also see his misses.

Nehki Wells, 22 goals in 53 appearances, all for Bradford. Div two to championship is quite a big step, but if the price is right why not. He is just 22 years of age and could be one for the future if he can't have an instant impact. Just the sort of kid Arsenal pick up and develope.

Yes, very good post and analysis of the game. Although it was a frustrating case of deja vu, with superb ball play, movement, possession yet an inability to capitalise on the countless chances created, I too feel optimistic that we are not far away from being a top side. I am also reassured, that, for the first time Gus is publicly recognising that that the strikers are not cutting it at present as his post match interview demonstrated. I believe that he is finally realising that other options are now necessary to make a serious challenge for the play offs. We all know that a minimum of two and more likely three are needed, with the big centre forward role critical. Let us all hope that January sees these players in. If not we will have to accept that a similar position to last year beckons, with the rebuilding starting in the summer. Either way, it will still have been a great season.

Sadly can see brid going as out of contract in summer I think, and think cms could go too unless Poyet can offer him a realistic chance of Prem football next year with us. To do that I guess we'd need to make a couple of significant signings to show we mean business this year. cms not getting any younger and Poyet will not stand in his way of top flight football much longer.

Bridders would be the harder to replace and therefore the bigger loss in my mind.

Either way , UTA!!

I just wish to point out i did say this only a few weeks ago. With some luck the club can gets some money back.Because lets face it you couldn't give Barnes,Dobbie, and Hoskins away right now,and they have cost the club millions. If you can't do it in the championship what chance do they have in the prem-league.But then again Swansea saw that. There should be a big push from all the fans to get all the freeloaders off the clubs books.Starting with Oatway Jr and Anton Rodgers. Also Lewis Dunk will never be a prem-league player. At his age he should be playing at the top of his game by now.So lets get him back to the lower leagues with the rest of the old boys net work with rich familys.I think at £40 a ticket now,& £40 a club replica top, which palace can do for just £34.The fans can say what they like.We should not be paying top money to watch players like Barnes,Dunk,Harley,H
ammond,or Dobbie.Or should Oatway still be working around young players.Get him a job in stand up or something,or just get him out at the christmas party.

You fail to mention the gate being the highest average in this league! With more seats available soon, we should be in position to push the boat out and sign a 2-3 million pound striker.
I did hear after Saturday Norwich are about to make a bid for bridcutt with Bennett coming in the other direction.

I guess everything that can be said about the game more or less has been. Brilliant first half display, other than so many missed chances, although with that front three, it's surely now only a matter of time before we absolutely thrash someone. Hope Gus plays CMS, Hoskins and Will again on Tuesday in same format. Must be worth another so at least. Also, lots of praise on here for Calde. Fine, but I thought Greer was immense and right back to his best.
I've decided now to give this blog a miss for a while, too much sniping for me. I agree some of the trolling is stupid, but one can bypass it. However, just as bad is 'idiot troll buster' a very sad person in my view, I wonder, when you set yourself up as the 'thought police', do you sit on your computer wearing a uniform? For goodness sake get a life. Bye, bye all and UTA

I agree totally, Dave. Why can't people just chill out a bit instead of the sniping and vitriol that seems to wash around ther site on a daily basis? Yes, there will be the usual WUM's and Trolls that get their kicks by winding up the more hot headed members of the forum. But who should really take it so seriously, just read with amusement (as it is so obvious what the objective is) or ignore if it upsets! This is a views forum, nothing more and what is incredible, is that many are nailed to the gates of hell and labelled as Trolls when they are in fact just expressing a view that differs from the majority! It would be a shame to start losing people, like you who have offered sensible views and opinions over a long period of time, because of the mindless sniping that is becoming an unwelcome feature of what used to be a good site!

I’m not unreasonable,if the good posters want to see the back of Troll Busters i will happily leave you lot to it. You may see it as policing, but i see it as turning the tables, some may find me amusing and some may hate me. To spit the dummy, leave the site and blame it on me is weak. Ignore my posts like you say you ignore the others instead of making a big thing about it.

As an old git who wa a North Stand regular, I think back to that great partnership of John Byrne and Mike Small. Those two would terroise most teams in the championship today and are the type of players we need up front.
It may be my age, but I think the even kevin Bremner might have put a couple away on Saturday.
I will now go back to my slippers and horlicks!

CMS and Brudcutt are being touted by Norwich, Aston Villa and Fulham. From my point of view, if we buy a good striker then CMS will be a happier man as he will have a good partner up front. Bridcutt is pretty loyal but we cannot offered premier league wages at the minute and the offer may well be too good to miss. If we lose CMS and we do not manage to buy a prolific goal scorer then we are going to have big issues going for the play off's. Another way to look at it from CMS's point of view is that if he stays and we do get another striker, he will be in the Premiership anyway.
January will be very interesting indeed......
