Bridcutt fired up by the rumours
9:00am Tuesday 1st January 2013 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Liam Bridcutt says talk about his future is spurring him on to play even better
ALBION ace Liam Bridcutt says he is happy to see his name linked with Premier League clubs.
And the midfield general admits speculation surrounding his future is spurring him on to perform even better for the Seagulls.
Bridcutt has been linked with Norwich, Reading, Aston Villa, Fulham and Swansea in the past 12 months.
Albion's reigning player of the year, under contract until June 2015, told The Argus: "If you are playing well you are always going to get linked with a few clubs.
"As long as I keep playing well hopefully my name will get mentioned. That is what you want, to progress in your career.
“I would love to do it with Brighton. With any job if someone is going to offer you a better opportunity in life and it's better for your family it's going to be hard not to take the opportunity.
“There has been a few bits in the papers and on Sky Sports News but I just want to concentrate on playing football and doing well for Brighton.
“If anything it pushes me more. When you hear there are teams interested you just want to go out there and impress every game.
“I try to do that, try to work hard and put as much as I can in for the team.”
Bridcutt, 23, will have a new agent during the January transfer window after ex-Albion goalkeeper Mark Cartwright took up a post in charge of Stoke City's recuitment and scouting.
The former Chslea prospect said: “It all came at the wrong time for me. With the January window coming up and not having an agent it was a bit difficult but I have found an agent now who I am going to sign with and be happy with.”

Liam's right tho, we would all seriously consider a job offer for more money, offering a better life for ourselves and family. Also the chance to play in the big time. Sure he has a few people to prove wrong also. Good luck to him!!
If it is to be the end of Liam's and BHAFC relationship, thanks Liam. We will take the millions and move on. Hopefully tho he will choose to continue this great journey with us!

I've been really disappointed by both Dean & Crofty so far, am I alone on that view? I, along with many fans will be really gutted if Liam is ALLOWED to leave, our best, most important player by a country mile, IMHO.
Stay with Brighton and we can go to the Premier League together. Don't rush and make a mistake by joining a supposed "bigger club". Ultimately of course, it's not down to Liam, Will or CMS for that matter, it's down to Chairman Bloom. Three players on long contracts, no need to sell and certainly not in the best interest of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club to sell our best players. There comes a time when perhaps the club changes is stance slightly from the best interests of the player to the best interests of the Football Club and its incredibly loyal and steadfast supporters.
I do sometimes wonder if the Club really care about loyal Supporters views or whether they just want the money? Ansers on a postcard to...

I would think that a very decent fee should head our way if he does move on and I wonder if a cheeky couple of bids could be made with the funds received for 2 premiership central midfielders currently warming their teams respective benches.
I was think that it might be good to see Fabian Delph playing alongside Jake Livermore. With both way down the pecking order at Villa and Spurs, perhaps it isn't just a far reaching idea. Just a thought anyway.
Here's to a win today and a window that brings more excitement than sorrow.
Happy new year everyone..

I'm sure he will look at offers from Prem clubs. He's having a tremendous season and deserves to be playing Prem League. However, I bet if we were sitting where Cardiff are sitting right now, he'd be more than happy to stay and get to the top flight with us. With our current run of form and statistics making that unlikely, who can blame him for wanting to get there by the transfer route. If he goes, we will have lost a fantastic player because of the negative tactics Gus has employed in concentrating on defence at the expense of attacking, match winning tactics and failing to get that much needed centre forward. The cost of failure also leads to the loss of your best assets I'm afraid.
My biggest fear is a continuation of poor form which could see us in freefall. The decision to leave would then be made easier.
I hope that the group are 'in it together' and revert to early season form and by the end of jan are in a good position to reach the playoffs.
Keep the faith boys and start by getting 3pts today!

Norwich about to offer palace £3 million for Murray, so maybe CMS is not their main target. Someone asked if the club care about their loyal supporters. It's a business and you're a customer.

it's obvious he means Hoskins, some people who post on here are dyslexic like me, it does not mean they do not have a brain or indeed a valid point to make.

The rub of this that now makes me angry ,more than I was maybe a couple of days ago is much of this topic falls for all the good he has done at Gus's door! We have all watched tactics at hm for this season and they have been wrong definiately at hm ,that is Gus's fault . We have dropped at least 10 points at hm that would have cut out all this talk of players leaving in jan even if we had not eventually got promoted ,as it is we could be now in the ......I now think Gus on a short lead for awhile none of the deadline signings have done wonders except upset the balance even Orlando the pick of the 4 was not involved in our 5 game winning run.
Tony time to be tough!

As players progress bigger clubs will be alerted and there is only one way to stop our players going to bigger clubs, become a big club, and that takes time.
The problem we have is not that bigger clubs want our players, as Liam says that is good, the problem is that they can buy them in january.
This window needs to go, clubs lose vital assets in a short period of time and have to keep playing. New players can arrive but rarely can they just drop into a team and play at their best.
The january window only benefits the prem and it really hurts the championship division. Instead of working 100% with the squad in october thru to december they are spending time trying to keep what they have and looking for replacements for those that could go. There is also the added pressure on the players that see their names bandied about.
If the FA won't do away with this window the championship directors should band together and say, 'we will not do any buisness in january no matter what money is offered.' I would also suggest that they write into every player's contract that they can not leave their club untill the end of the season.
This window hurts.

I hope he can be held to his contract till the season end at least, if we put the sort of run together that we are capable of, he can get to the Prem with us, and there will still be interest in him from other clubs if we don't make it.
I hope we could refuse offers below £5 million for him at this point, but it must be hard to say to a player that we picked up for free that 3 or 4 million £ is not enough to let him go.

Neither of them can head the ball, neither has pace, neither pose a goal threat when we are attacking from set pieces, etc...etc...
If Liam goes, I hope Gus has the sense to strenthen a very average central back line.

Having said that I don't blame the lad. Professional football is a short career (and they can't all be pundits or coaches when it finishes) so they have to take the opportunities when they arise
