Hoskins will fight for his Albion future
5:00pm Monday 7th January 2013 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Will Hoskins, scoring against Newcastle
Will Hoskins has vowed to fight for his Albion career after clinching the FA Cup victory over Newcastle.
The substitute slotted home David's pass three minutes from time to end a 16-month goal drought for the Seagulls.
It was his first goal for the club since scoring at Cardiff at the start of last season and his second in 19 appearances since signing from Bristol Rovers two summers ago.
Hoskins, plagued by injury problems including a broken foot earlier this season, went on loan to Sheffield United for three months during the 2012 January transfer window.
The 26-year-old, out-of-contract in June, told The Argus: "After breaking my foot I think everyone might have said my days are numbered but I kept my head down, kept going and kept strong. I'm not a quitter.
"I am driven and I want to succeed. I want to do it for my family, I want to do it for myself and I want to do it for this club as well, given the chance.
"I've been in the team or on the bench since coming back from the foot injury sooner than expected.
"I've worked hard, had a few starts and a few chances that have eaten away at me a little bit that I should have converted, so to score is a massive positive."

He's got some talent, his goal was well taken and his relief was clearly palpable. Is he a 15-20 goals a season man, not sure.

After his all round performance for us on Saturday, given that he was only on the pitch for 20 mins,i thought he played superbly ,at one point coming out of a group of 3 NUFC player s with the ball,he surely must be given more of a chance, and frankly im more than a little concerned that he is out of contract in the summer!. Gus sign him up,put any baggage between you aside and let him show you how good he can be for our great club. UTA

At the time the manager signed Hosko. he apparently stated that Hosko was very gifted technically, able to play up front on his own, could play on the shoulder or wide etc etc etc. Well, that has all been displayed in his brief appearances.

Since his return from the latest injury he has looked a man on a mission, he may not have scored until Saturday but in every cameo appearance he has made, he has had an opportunity to score.
I'm convinced his lack of a goal until now is purely rustiness and I wouldn't mind betting that given a run of games, we will see what we hoped we had signed. As someone else mentions.. For Will to score the same amount of goals for Bristol Rovers in the season they were relegated is some feat.
Stick with us Will and BHAFC, please stick with this guy, he WILL be a gem.

Sorry guys if I'm slow on the uptake here, wouldn't be the first time, but Wiki is stating that Leonardo Ullua is a Brighton player. A bid has been accepted, I know there is a passport hold up and the Wiki details can be manipulated, but could he be facing Derby on Saturday?

Please Gus put your pride away and give Will a good contract,Far Gull thinks he will be our new Wardy, well i dont know, but he is far too good to let slip through our fingers. I hope that someone passes the overall feeling from the supporters on this site to the main man. The message is give WILL HOSKINS a chance, and maybe save a bob or two?. UTA

He is more adaptable than CMS but equally would play well with him as a strike force.
If we sign the Spanish lad though he might as well pack his bags and that will be another player we did not give a good enough chance to to prove his ability which would be a real shame!! His only other hope is to change his name by deed poll to "Ashley Barnes"

Not sure why we'd ever play a lone striker role? So often we should be more bullish and bold - timidity doesn't quite get us there - it took Andy Murray 5+ years to work that out!!
"The new Wardy"? Ridiculous at this stage
Anyone know what Hammond was booked for on Saturday? My memory was that it was he that was fouled - but I reckon I must have missed something

I really hope that he recognises the strength of feeling supporters have for him and reciprocates this by signing on again. To see him turn things around on the pitch and then leave on a free would be so frustrating.

There was a good report on this site quoting one of the Almeria execs (General Manager I think) towards the end of last week. It didn't sound a 'done deal' but subject to the passport issue we seem to be top of Ulloa's potential list of destinations.
I just hope we don't hang around waiting for this situation to be resolved since we might miss out on other potential strikers.
Returning to this thread I am glad to hear of Hosko's desire to prove himself and remain at BHA beyond this summer. I think he could be a very useful player for us. He is beginning to come into some form, he seems both good technically and intelligent which is what we want up front.
My only concern is we rarely see CMS and Hosko together which is a pity since without having playing time together it is difficult for them to build an understanding.
Looking forward to Saturday.

And do you have any other insults than 'mug' (other than the weird use of 'vile' you reserve for players who, despite not being Messi, are far more talented than any of us)? Why do you even bother with this forum, if we're all so rubbish and far less intelligent than you? I am not saying you have any less right to comment than any of us, but really if all you have is negative bile and invective that you feel the constant need to unleash, couldn't you find a more productive outlet for it? I'm starting to feel sorry for you - I must be a mug!
PS: I have problems with stuck keys on my keyboard, but I am somehow able to edit my messages before clicking send... weird!

Really how much more evidence do you need then for your very slow brain to kick in then. You have the Watford fans on here saying the same only a few weeks ago. They also pointed out the trouble the manager had with him at the time.He went to Shef U & was out with injury within a few weeks.Did you here about them smashing the door down to sign him full time "NO".On top of that the same thing at Forest within weeks, and also at Rovers. But lets hope your right you seem to know it all.People like you are always happy spending other people money.I think Poyet knows a lot more about it than you thank God.
Hold on, you're saying Poyet knows a lot about football, yet are also saying he got it wrong when he bought Hoskins? Do you even know which side of the argument you are on now? You seem to be the ONLY person on here who dislikes Will Hoskins - did he (and all the other players whose very existence you despise) sleep with your missus or something?

I may have opinions on certain players, their value to the squad or not, as the case might be, but I won't insult them.
I prefer to direct my thoughts toward the team and their progress and not waste them on futile written garbage.
Having read all the comments on this thread I would advise all those that think I submit too many comments to keep their thoughts to themselves. Any further requests for me to reduce the number of my comments will result in a doubling of my efforts.
Freeloader, you need to stop winding people up, you enjoy it but you are destroying this forum.
The rest of you, well you just need to think about how you are feeding Freeloaders fun.

On NSC there is an ignore function so you can blank out all posts by selected members. What a shame it's not available here. This idiot would be number one on my list to ignore.

In another life I was expedited for actually saying something about a 'mucking fuddle' which, in hindsight, was relatively mild. Oh well, I shall try to get in early on the next thread, before it deteriorates in to the usual mire...

If someone offers an opinion is it not right to question that someone ? On their reasons for formulating that opinion and evidence, source etc.
