Plum draw for Albion
3:38pm Sunday 6th January 2013 in Albion
Lukas Podolski celebrates scoring for Arsenal against Swansea today
Albion have been handed another plum home draw in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Seagulls will host Arsenal or Swansea at The Amex at the end of the month.
The Premier League rivals drew 2-2 in Wales this afternoon and now face a replay at The Emirates.
Albion tackle the winners over the weekend of January 26/27 as a reward for knocking Newcastle out of the competition for the second year running at The Amex yesterday.

Arsenal have been trophyless for 8 years and its clear they are taking the FA cup more seriously this year. Therefore I expect Arsenal to field a very strong side when they come down.
Newcastle had to put out a sub strength side but I'm expecting a tougher Arsenal side to take the field. So this plum home tie will be a great way to really see how good we are.
Excellent. Counting down the days and Let's hope it's live on TV again. I think it will be because the TV people will be thnking it could be another shock result.

Playing in the cup is different for all concerned, no pressure and no points, just money. None of the championship teams are thinking possible trophy at this stage, quarter finals before that kicks in.
The side we put our yesterday wasn't our best eleven and I doubt we will put them out against Swans or Gunners, it's the cup, no more than the opposition will either, but both teams will have strong elevens.

On that point, I have seen very little comment re: Casper unexpectedly playing yesterday.I presume it was just a calculated gamble to keep TK on his toes (and to keep Casper 'fresh'). I have seen no reference to anything like a niggling injury which might have led to the manager not risking TK. Any thoughts?

Arsenal will want to beat us, if they can beat the Swans, of that there is no doubt. There are matches to be played prior to the cup game and after, injuries will be on the minds of the managers. I would expect any prem team coming to the Amex to put out a strong eleven, we have shown what we can do to a weakened team. Who Arsenal have to play prior to us and after us could have a baring on who they put up against us.
I am not convinced that they can get past Swansea.

Obviously I'd prefer the glitz of a match with Arsenal but will definitely not be disappointed if we play Swansea instead.
I see someone above mentions the return of Vicente. Wouldn't it be great to have him back for this glamour tie and of course for the remainder of the season. A big ask I know and probably just wishful thinking.. He is born for the big stage though.
We will hopefully have Ulloa in by then too and with a bit of luck he will prove to be the big handful we've needed for a long time and will put the fear of god in to the Arsenal back line. There is no doubting Arsenals ability but its fairs to say that they have been known to be bullied in the past.

However I am not prepared to fund another full price ticket for it. I believe they should have rewarded this years good support by giving season ticket holders their tickets at the season ticket price. Instead they mugged us at fill price.
No surprise therefore that we saw the lowest crowd of the season. Shot on the foot IMO.
I am not prepared to pay put another £50 for me and my young son.

That is why I have suggested previously that the club make the effort to give schools and local clubs associations etc have either subsidised or free tickets available, I also think it would be a good idea to reward supporters like yourself by offering concessions for under 16's accompanied by an adult, I suggest you and others in similar circumstances write to the club suggesting such a scheme, I am sure if there is enough support the club would consider it. Money at the gate means profits in the bank.
Profits in the bank means cash available for new signings.
New signings could mean prem football.
What pricing policy is right for the chance to play in the prem?
If we reduced the ticket price by say, a tenner a head, that would cost us about 200k in revenue. Two such matches and we are down 400k. That 400k is a loan player on 20k a week till the end of the season, or two on 10k a week.
We have to decide whether we want a pricing policy that the fans thinks is good value or, one where we have more money available for the club to get the players in that the fans know we need to gain promotion.

I thought it was still a good crowd when everything is taken into consideration and fully understand opinions of season ticket holders regarding cup games and prices who are in my opinion, the backbone of the club
However its games like this that give me and other supporters who for whatever reason can´t get a season ticket albeit financial or geographic, the chance to support the Albion we love
We are still a long way from the finished article but I thought we won on Saturday because we closed down a lot quicker and were hungrier at the second ball
Bridge and Liam superb
Great draw, hope its on the box

The buyer can then print out at home an e-ticket! What could be easier.

By doing this the club would have 24 hours to sell the tickets at what ever price they want.
I don't know how you plan for empty seats. If Arsenal are next in the FA Cup we should sell out, would we for Swansea? When would we know that we have seats available, on the day, the day before or two days before.
If you are going to offer the seats out to youth organizations, at what ever rate, would they not need time to put their visit together. The youth need to be supervised.
It is easy on the day to say, wow we have a lot of empty seats but by then it's too late. Last minute cheap seats might encourage people not to buy at full price, hang back hoping for a bargain.

Fantastic draw, wonder how many of our so called fans will want their season ticket seats for this one? my £41.00 for my reserved seat yesterday was well worth it and all the new comers who attended yesterday some for the first time should be given some sort of priority over the fickle thousands, you either support your team or you don't and there we're a lot of our so called fans missing, where i sit i know all the people around me and both sides of me and back and front we're nowhere to be seen but to be really honest we did'nt miss them as the atmosphere, although subdued at first, soon became a cauldron of noise as these "new comers" warmed to the game and their inhibitions relaxed.Keep coming you guys we need noisy support.SEAGULLS.

Maybe one way in which modern techno can be used to fill empty season ticket holders seats would be to automaticaly charge their account for the seat. If the holder knew this was going to happen and also knew that they would not be attending, they would advise the club and the ticket price would be removed from their account, a 24 hour window would apply.
By doing this the club would have 24 hours to sell the tickets at what ever price they want.

Albion looked absolutely superb to me, watching on TV. Say what you like about Newcastle but Albion bossed that game and looked the Premiership side.
Adam el-Abd makes me laugh. He could wind up a saint. He's very clever you know. He gets under the skin of opponents and then there is only one winner. Love him!

So pleased with the draw. My first reaction was, good, two footballing sides. Either one will do for me.

You should also consider that many people dont just have one Season Ticket to pay for, I for example have three!

Your first comment was rather insensitive given that many people clearly may not have the disposable income that you have. Not going to the cup match does not mean they are not "true fans"!! Comments like that wind me up.
As far as I'm concerned we should welcome any fan even those who attend one or two games per season!
