Albion match subject to early morning inspection

Albion's match at Birmingham tomorrow hinges on an early morning inspection.

Referee Phil Dowd and a safety chief will assess the state of the St Andrew's pitch and surrounding areas.

A statement released by Birmingham this morning said: "Club officials are working hard to ensure that tomorrow's fixture at home to Brighton & Hove Albion goes ahead despite the recent snowfall.

"The weather forecast for tomorrow is more favourable and conditions in and around St. Andrew's Stadium will be assessed in the morning.

Match official Phil Dowd and the local authority's safety inspector will be on site early tomorrow morning to make a final decision, especially given that the Seagulls' supporter coaches are due to depart Brighton at 9am."

Sky Sports report that Adkins (Saints) has been sacked. Seems a bit harsh as he was starting to turn things round. I suppose he couldn't keep up.

I thought he was doing a good job after a bad start, 15th in the table, 4 points away from mid table.

Feel a little sorry for him although always found him smug, will never forget the warm welcome we gave him at the Withdean after his "keeping up"comments were made. Anyway folks, that's what you get with foreign ownership, club is never run in the same way, fans are ignored and decisions are made for good or bad. Lets hope TB is here for a very long time.

Sacking Adkins is utter madness. Whether you like him or not, his record at Stains is excellent. I really hope the Champ now beckons. Why do these Chairman think an unsuccessful no name for overseas will get them to the Eu Champ this season?

Barking!!

Blackpool have a vacancy, perhaps Adkins would suit.

Let me assure anyone planning to go, as I was, that here in South Bucks it's gridlock - the M40 blocked etc - due to snow. There's no way this game will be on, the players won't be ableto get half way, let alone to Birmingham! Huge dump of snow, and Oxforshire/Warks no bettter.

Indeed, we don't need foreign ownership here.

Adkins has only lost twice in his last 12 games, his last game being a draw away to Chelsea. His win record at Stains is better than his successor's at Espanyol.
Adkins:Played:124, Won:67
Pochettino: Played:146, Won:49
Played fewer, won more

Re Arsenal Cup Tie - their website is showing all their allocation already sold out - this will be a great atmosphere. I was at The Amex yesterday having lunch and the South West corner seats looked all complete and just the North West and North East corners remain.

BTW If anyone feels like supporting the young Brighton Catering College Students - they do a truly fantastic lunch Mon- Fri in The East Brasserie.

It's best to book as gets very busy. £9 for 2 course meal and £11 for 3 courses - great quality and VFM.

Well done to all those young people and their tutors - you deserve to succeed! Thank you.

Bitterly cold in Birmingham now, with light snow on the icy wind. Fingers crossed

No snow overnight in Warwickshire, so M40/M42 should be OK. A tad cold up here though, so bring a flask of Bovril.
