David wants to stay with Seagulls long-term

The Argus: David is keen to end his career in England David is keen to end his career in England

David has revealed plans to stay with Albion and finish his career in England.

The 30-year-old Spanish midfielder has become increasingly influential for the Seagulls since arriving on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao at the end of August.

He volleyed his first goal in open play at Birmingham on Saturday after grabbing the role of penalty taker and is keen to earn a new contract.

David, signed on a one-year deal, told The Argus: “My idea is to stay in England and if it is at Brighton all the better because me and my family are very happy here with the club and the city.

“I am training harder and I hope to have four or five years left, maybe more.

“It took a while to start with but I’ve had no problem adapting because of the club, team-mates and manager. I always wanted to play in England because of the atmosphere, teams and the league.

“Now I will keep training and trying to keep in the starting line-up.”

David is hoping for his eighth start in a row at Blackburn tonight after three goals in his last six outings, including penalties back-to-back at home to Millwall and Watford.

He is really coming good now. I think the turning point was the game against Millwall when he frankly had a really poor first half and was on the verge of being substituted. If that had happened he may have done a Dobbie and disappeared to the reserves for ever more. But luckily he was shifted to right back for the second half and then stepped up to the plate to score the equalising penalty in the last minute. Since then he has gone from strength to strength and I can't wait to see David, Vicente, Orlandi and Bruno all playing together! (& with Ulloa to come too - happy days).

A lot more to come from the lad. Would be happy for him to sign a new contract. Anyone know the news about Ulloa's claearance for tonight?

David is class and we should not lose him. A three year contract would suit him and us nicely.

Absolutely. Had my doubts at first but he's really come good and should be rewarded - we need him.

Yep that was the turning point, the radio commentary thought he was going to be subbed.

Just goes to show that we shouldn't write anyone off too soon.

Come on guys, tell us your starting lineups for tonight.

For me.

No change in the back five, same as Saturday.

Midfield. Bridcutt, Hammond, David and Barnes.

Ulloa and CMS.

If Ulloa ruled out then I think CMS might not start, Hoskins to get the nod.

Vicente and Lua Lua to come on as subs.

Further to my thinking. If Hoskins starts then Barnes joins him and Orlandi in midfield.

CMS will start, it's a racing certainty.

Fine with starting back five and midfield.
I think Saraman is right that CMS will start but I think he has to hit the ground running tonight because Hosko cannot be left to remain rooted to the bench much longer. Will B has been struggling since the manager advised that he was better than Zaha but we know its only temporary and he has to be on in the second half with Vicente if required.

wiseman, I think it was Buckley's hamstring that caused his slight dip in form rather than comparisons with Zahaha.

Point taken. Cannot wait to see him in full flight again. I have a Will Buckley mug for my morning Assam - a bit sad at my age.

As we all know CMS is a 100% work horse, he leaves it all out on the field.
With all due respect to our opponents tonight I am not so sure that we need to play CMS, I think he can rest and Hoskins be given his head.

I am not suggesting that Gus should leave him out so as to be fresh for Arsenal, but I do think his speed will be needed against them.

Hoskins is due a start regardless of the Arsenal game and Blackburn might be the right match for him to get that start.
