Bridge faces tough test
5:07pm Thursday 7th February 2013 in Albion By Brian Owen
Wayne Bridge
Wayne Bridge has been told he faces a major defensive test against Hull.
The Albion left-back is likely to face Egyptian right wing-back Ahmed Elmohamady in the televised tussle at The Amex.
Former Everton star Peter Beagrie, who will be working for Sky Sports at the game, said: “Wayne Bridge has been great in the Championship.
“We all know his ability and his attitude has been great.
“But he faces a big test against Elmohamady, who has been a constant supply line from right wing back.
“He has got a nice little trick – a drop of the shoulder – and his delivery has been first class.”

As GP has said in his press conference there will be more risks taken and now is the time. Draws are not good enough anymore.
If bucker is not fit I'd rather see Lua Lua on the right. We need to go ahead in games as early as possible to settle us down and the best way to do that is start with the most attacking formation.
GP will probably elect to hold CMS back as an impact player but I personally would like to see him from the start with Ulloa.
We would still have attacking options on the bench with Vicente and Hoskins in that formation.
Lets wait and see.

The question is, who do you start with to apply the constant pressure.
I quite like Wise OldSeagull's suggestion, as it contains both speed and fire power, almost a three pronged attack as Ulloa, CMS and Buckley can all score.
The midfield also contains Orlandi who can also score. The bench he suggests has pretty much like for like replacements.
Yep this line up will do for me, I wonder if it will do for Gus.

Goals win matches, constant pressure creates chances for goals to be scored, there is more chance of scoring if two strikers are present to cash in on the chances created.

We should start at a high tempo and get one or hopefully two up asap.

Whilst there is a need to keep possession, if they don't have the ball they can't score, I would dearly like to see us break forward quicker.
A combination of caution and flair, the steady build up with the occasional ball over the top for someone to run on to, a careful balanced approach but one with enough guile to out wit the opposition.
I know we have the pace part of the equation, we certainly have the cautious side down pat, I am left wondering if we have enough creativity.
The game against Hull, to state the obvious, is a big one and we have a habit of performing well in big matches. I can't help but feel that Gus will try something slightly different on saturday, maybe not monumental but different.
I will stick my neck out and say CMS and Ulloa will start, Dicker too.
2-0, or better, to Brighton.

Why is this forum always full of computer game managers? So much claptrap from people who sound like they have a FIFA "A" licence. Hull are a decent side. Yes, we need to beat them, but as fans, we say that every week. "High tempo" "one or two up early on" is EA Sports talk. In the real world it ha to be earned, not established by the touch of a button. They'll be trying their whatsits off on Saturday. No guarantees. Calm down.
You dissaprove of people offering opinions as to line up and tactics ect, what the hell do you think we are going to talk about, KNITING, you dumb SOB.

I'd like to see CMS replace AB on the left and have Bucker on the right. Orlandi and Dicker in the center with Bridcutt in behind. I think that would give us the best attacking options available and at the same time a good amount of defensive ability in midfield. Only change I'd make to WiseOldSeagull's team is play Vicente instead of Orlandi if he is fit. If Buckley isn't fit, I'd then play Orlandi in his place ahead of Lua Lua.

You say it is not a, 'fans chat site,' pray do tell if not that then what is it?
Is this not a forum where like minded fans exchange points of view and opinions regarding all matters BHA?
Using todays language, in terms of web site exchanges between people, are not these exchanges considered, 'chat?
Not a blog for VegasSeagull, perhaps you need to check out all the threads, I think you will find me no more prolific in the number of my postings than many others. I would concede that there was a time when I did post too often, but those days have long since past.
If you are still of the opinion that this particular site is a not BHA forum I suggest you start to offer comments on other matters and see how long it will take others to remind you of where you are posting.
Cooking recipies, travel, politics or perhaps civil rights might be subjects you could render an opinion on

I would love to see CMS playing deeper off Big Len. Whether Gus thinks we can accomodate this playing Buckley as well, remains to be seen. If CMS doesn't get the nod then it's either Orlandi or Vicente. There are of course many permutations and I've hedged my bets here but without Barnes my best guess is (fitness allowing):
, TK
Bruno Upson Elabd Bridge
Bridcutt
Buckley/Orlandi Hammond David
Vicente (Orlandi/CMS)
Ulloa
As for the 'go for it' comments... Yes we need to show some urgency. But don't expect or wish for the charge of the light brigade from 'my mate Gus'. Doubters to the left of them, WUMS to the right...For i fear you will be disappointed. I cannot see the majority on here expousing any joy (or honouring the charge they made) if we start shipping goals (with 11 men); abandoning the principals which have guided us to where we are (or are holding us back?!). We can only control games by technical guile, we don't have the muscle to boss games without numerical superiority in midfield (IMO).I believe we will win tomorrow and go on a run. My optimism is of course, as ever, within the borders of reason and at the gates of madness.
