Hammond says Albion fear nobody

Dean Hammond was encouraged by Albion's performance against Blackburn Dean Hammond was encouraged by Albion's performance against Blackburn

Dean Hammond insists Albion fear no one as they chase a place in the Premier League.

The Seagulls are currently seventh in the Championship and four points off the play-offs after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn.

That gap could increase on Saturday when Albion are not playing due to Barnsley’s continuing involvement in the FA Cup while five of the six sides above them are in league action.

It means the pressure could be on as Gus Poyet’s side head to leaders Cardiff when they return to action next Tuesday.

Cardiff have only lost once at home in the league all season but Hammond, above, is certainly not daunted by a trip to Wales, particularly after the way Albion played against Blackburn.

He said: “We are confident of any game we play in this division. We are a good team.

“Cardiff are having a great season. They are the best team in the league because they are top of the league but we don’t fear anyone.

“If we perform like we did on Tuesday for the remainder of the season, we will be there or thereabouts.

“We are still confident we can achieve what we want to do. There are 15 games left, we are four points off the play-offs, we have got a target.

“I know it is boring to say it but you have to take one game at a time and our next game is Cardiff.”

Personally I think anything at Cardiff will be seen as a bonus point. I think it will come down to our home form against our play offs rivals

Sorry, don't agree. We stuffed Cardiff last year, and could do the same.

I think you're spot on Dean. All that is needed is to score some goals. I believe that 3 points will be secured next Tuesday as a win is more achievable away with the extra space available as the opposition have to take the game to us.

Feel the only thing we have to fear is the lack of someone putting the ball in the back of the net when the what seems to be regular chances arise. If we had netted 25% of the chances we have had in games we would be in the top eight not trying to get there. Would like to see Gus take a chance at Cardiff like he says we need to do. CMS and Leo up front again and take the game to Cardiff.

CKR should be kicked out of football if found guilty.

We are talking about the Cardiff game and you seem interested in CKR. Forget it and move on, he's a **** and will get punished, I'm not intrested in other teams players just ours!!

On Tuesday I saw a performance that could beat half the premiership, only question is can we do it for 15 games? Can Vicente stay fit? Had Vicente been fit all season we would be top .

I think I am right in saying that Hoskins scored last year when we beat them on their own turf, I could be wrong. If I am not, then how ironic is it that Hoskins is now out for the rest of the season.

I echo your views Saraman. I would not be surprised in the slightest if we return from Wales with all 3 points. That is providing Gus starts with a similar attacking line-up. Think I'd prefer Orlandi to replace Hoskins as dont think CMS is playing well enough to warrant a starting berth.

Actually this is an Albion site and the comment is in my opinion perfectly valid. I would echo the sentiment. We have enough from opposing fans who use their collective brain cell to display their ignorance, when a player does it the club should sack him and the FA ban him. Then this over-rated little pratt may learn his lesson.

i'm surprised CKR's gestures are not to be found on youtube, given he is said to have made them at least five times.

didn't we get rid of him because he was an idiot?
