Albion have brought back David and Andrea Orlandi at leaders Cardiff City tonight.

But Vicente, who has scored their last two goals, is only among the subs and there is no Craig Mackail-Smith in the 18.

There is no return for Gordon Greer after a hamstring injury.

Vicente drops to the bench as the Seagulls make two changes to the side which started last Tuesday’s frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn.

Youngsters Jake Forster-Caskey and George Barker are also among the subs.

Albion won 3-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium in the opening fortnight of last season but their goalscorers that night, Ashley Barnes (who got two) and Will Hoskins, are both ruled out.

Barnes completes the three-match ban resulting from his red card in the Seagulls’ last away game, at Sheffield Wednesday, while Hoskins’ season has been ended by a knee injury.

Cardiff have taken 40 points from a possible 45 at home this season, scoring 27 goals and conceding just nine.

Their side includes former Albion winger Craig Noone, who has scored five goals since moving west ahead of the transfer deadline last August.

Centre-back Ben Nugent is ruled out by a dead leg but that blow is more than balanced by the return of first-choice Ben Turner from a foot injury.

That is the only change from the side which beat Bristol City 2-1 here on Saturday.

Cardiff: Marshall; Hudson, Turner, Taylor, Connolly; Noone, Whittingham, Gunnarsson; Smith, Campbell, Bellamy. Subs: Lewis, McNaughton, Cowie, Conway, Kim, Mason, Helguson.

Albion: Kuszczak; Bruno, El-Abd, Upson, Bridge; Bridcutt, Hammond, David; Orlandi, Buckley, Ulloa. Subs: Ankergren, Calderon, Vicente, Dicker, LuaLua, Forster-Caskey, Barker.
