Peter Ward has his place in Albion history – and so does his namesake Danny.

Huddersfield winger Danny Ward scored the last Football League goal at the Seagulls’ former temporary home at Withdean.

His last minute strike gave the Terriers a 3-2 win in the final fixture played at the athletics stadium at the end of 2010-11.

The strike kept alive their ultimately unsuccessful promotion bid and also extended Huddersfield’s great record in Sussex.

Town have picked up two wins and three draws in their last five away games with the Seagulls.

The last Albion win was by a 1-0 scoreline in February 2002 as Junior Lewis got the only goal.

Albion have won just one of the last eight meetings in Sussex.

Not that defeat in 2011 mattered too much as they returned to the field moments later to receive their trophy and medals as League One champions - and celebrate leaving Withdean!

There was a unique ending to the fixture in January 2008 as well.

Gary Hart and Chris Brandon got to grips with each other just after the final whistle ended and were sent off as the teams headed back to the changing rooms.

Tommy Elphick scored his first goal for the Seagulls that day with a towering header.

Huddersfield replied soon after with a brilliant free-kick over the wall by Robbie Williams – to an accompanying cry of “Take That!” from a more senior member of the press box!
