Albion have made a “sensible” move in adding Leo Ulloa to their striking options.

That is the view of Bristol City manager Sean O’Driscoll as he prepares his side to face the Seagulls and their hat-trick striker at Ashton Gate tonight.

O’Driscoll has already fallen victim to a forward player signed for a seven-figure fee by the Seagulls.

He was in charge of the Doncaster side beaten by two goals from £1million man Will Buckley in the first league match at The Amex last season.

O’Driscoll admits the Seagulls have moved on since that day.

Ulloa, buoyed by three goals and a powerful performance against Huddersfield on Saturday, will offer another challenge.

O’Driscoll said: “We have had the opportunity to watch two DVDs.

“He gives them another option. He enables them to play a bit higher up the pitch because technically he is very good.

“He gives them the ability to probably score from set-plays more than they had before.

“Their team is evolving. Their style will remain the same but the personnel are changing and he has added something to the group.

“They have the options of playing him as the archetypal target man or Craig Mackail-Smith, who everyone knows and the way he plays. He (Mackail-Smith) is a threat as well.

“The combination gives them the ability to mix and match as and when which is you what you want as a squad.”

O’Driscoll, speaking to player.bcfc.co.uk, added: “I think that is a sensible move and having the ability to do it and the contacts to find that type of player is probably what Brighton have evolved to.”
