DORSET Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) will re-launch its mountain bike patrols on heathland across Dorset next week.
Gaynor Mant, Community Safety Education Officer at DFRS said: “As the Easter holidays approach young people are out of school and getting bored. Lighter evenings encourage more people outside and there is a trend that the number of deliberately-set fires on the heathland increases.
She added: “The bikes allow us to get out and reach areas we have not been able to before in an effort to reduce deliberate fire-setting on the heath.”
