Council chiefs have pocketed £1.7 million after selling a plot of land for housing.
Planning permission has been granted for at least 29 homes on the site between Rascals Close and Shipley Road in Southwater, near Horsham.
Horsham District Council, which received the sum, said 11 of the properties will be affordable rented accommodation.
Council leader Ray Dawe said: “The sale of this land by the council will really help towards providing more much needed affordable rented housing in these difficult economic times while at the same time produce a reasonable financial return for the council taxpayers of the district.”
