A MENTAL health student nurse from Stourport will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society with her first half marathon.
Kellie Homer, 22, is running the Bupa Great Birmingham Run for Alzheimer’s after seeing first-hand the affects of the disease while on a placement for her course.
Miss Homer, who studies at the University of Birmingham, said: “It is a great cause because Alzheimer's will effect us all at some point in our lives, be it ourselves, a family member or a friend who may get this incurable illness.
“I have been able to witness first-hand severe dementia while doing my nursing training and see how much care people need and the negative impact of it, however with the right support and catching dementia early we can help people gain a better quality of life.”
Miss Homer will be running the Bupa Great Birmingham Run on Sunday, October 20 and hopes to raise at least £300.
