THE Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools’ FA are on the Isle of Wight this week to take part in the 26th annual Under 14 Schools’ Festival.
The Festival, organised by English Schools’ FA, has had many current professionals taking part – including Rio Ferdinand, the Neville brothers, Kevin Davies, Matthew Taylor, Wes Brown and Dean Whitehead.
The focus at the event is on sportsmanship and friendship with the only trophy on offer being the Bert Worrall Fair Play Award.
A total of 22 Schools’ Associations are taking part while six U13s squads will also attend to take part in a mini-festival which the ESFA hopes to develop in the future.
Hyndburn and Ribble’s fixtures allow them to meet teams they never play in their normal season.
They play Coventry tomorrow at West Wight FC, Plymouth on Thursday (Seaview FC), Bridgwater on Friday (Seaclose, Newport) before finishing off against West Cornwall on Saturday, also at Seaclose Park.
The Hyndburn squad includes Bradley Bodi, Alex Curran, Sean Fennel, Joe Grayson, Joe Hardcastle, Ryan Isherwood, Stefan Mols, Bradley Newell, Olive Odudu, Reagan Ogle, Morgan Ratcliffe, Ben Rickard, George Taylor and Scott Thomson.
