Albion have confirmed George Barker's move to Swindon Town.

The 22-year-old striker has joined the League One club on an 18-month contract for an undisclosed fee.

Barker will fill a void at the County Ground created by the return of Nicky Ajose to Peterborough and Nile Ranger’s imminent departure.

He is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday's home game against Peterborough.

Albion's head of football operations David Burke said: "George has worked hard and made good progress with the club but his opportunities here are limited, so this represents a chance for him to progress his career at a good club.

"On behalf of the Albion, I'd like to thank him for his time at the club and wish him well with Swindon and in his future career."

Thought he might make it as he scored a lot but obviously he's not quite up to it. Hope he does ok.

40K, or there about, in the bank and a small wage off the books, so no harm to us and a great chance for the lad to push on with his career, I hope it all works out for him.

Always a fine line between making it in football and justbfailing and so often it is about timing, self belief, and support. No reason that George shouldn't be banging in the goals in a couple of years. Hopefully we have a sell-on and in time we benefit from it. That would be a result all round.

Nev I hate this window, I would like to see it scrapped but allow loan deals to occur at any time and for any period within one season, renew option for following season.

Given that Burnley have offered 750k for Barnes that has only 6 months left on his contract, I wonder what Cardiff want for Conway given he has the same amount of contract time left.

Good luck to George.. I hope he has a good career.

Without it, we wouldn't have got Ulloa last year.

Plenty of footage about Bridders on ´rumour sites¨ I guess we will only know if/when a deal has been done. Brighton are very good at keeping things under wraps! If he has to go I am sure Tony will deal tough to get as much for him as possible with a view to getting others in---but a tough period for all concerned and agree this ´transfer window´should be scrapped.
