Albion suffered a convincing defeat in their only home friendly of pre-season.

The Seagulls went down 3-1 to an impressive Southampton side.

First-half goals from Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis were fitting reward for a slick, lively Saints outfit.

Tadic fired a low drive past David Stockdale on 20 minutes and Davis struck from close range a minute from the break.

They went further ahead on 63 minutes when James Ward-Prowse fired home from 25 yards after Rohan Ince lost possession.

Albion were very much second best.

But they had something to cheer on 73 minutes after Saints played themselves into trouble.

Kazenga LuaLua picked up possession, cut inside and flashed a drive past Kelvin Davis.

But that was all home fans had to enjoy.
