Albion’s season is up and running after a dominant 2-0 win at Leeds tonight.

New boy Joao Teixeira scored in the only the fifth minute after racing on to Bruno’s precise pass.

And Kazenga LuaLua came off the bench to fire an 84th-minute free-kick won by Teixeira which killed off any hint of a late Leeds riposte.

Rohan Ince had hit the post minutes earlier at the end of a flowing counter-attack involving Bruno and Craig Mackail-Smith which summed up a classy Seagulls display.

Teixeira shone brightest – and Danny Holla combined silk and steel in midfield on his debut.

Inigo Calderon headed a great chance for the second goal off target in the first period.

But he later cleared from in front of his goal when it looked like Michael Tonge’s drive might creep inside the post.

That would have brought Leeds level – but Albion always looked the better side as the secured their first points and goals of the Championship season.
