Nicky Forster has warned Albion’s players to prepare for a culture shock as they plan to conquer Brentford’s home fortress.

But he reckons the football played within Griffin Park’s tight confines might suit the Seagulls down to the ground if they can adapt to their surroundings.

Brentford won 17 of their last 18 games at their tight, 12,000-capacity home ground in League One last season.

They have opened up with two come-from-behind 1-1 draws in the Championship before raucous crowds in excess of 9,000.

Forster, who played for both clubs and also managed Brentford, expects Saturday’s contest to be another noisy occasion.

And he reckons Albion’s players must adapt quickly to their surroundings in what could be an intense atmosphere.

The former Seagulls skipper said: “Brentford’s success last season was based on their home form, which was excellent.

“They play their home ground very well. It’s a very tight venue - similar to QPR, one of their neighbours.

“There’s not a lot of space. It’s certainly nothing like the Amex, with all the space you have there around the pitch.

“Some players respond to venues like Griffin Park but others don’t like it at all.”

Forster, who was assisted by current boss Mark Warburton when they were in charge of the Bees in 2011, does not expect Albion to face an aerial bombardment.

He added: “Brentford pass the ball well, they try to play through the lines.

“They won’t just go route one, that’s for sure.”

Brentford expect to have midfielders Tommy Smith (knee) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) back from injury to face Sami Hyypia’s men, as well as defender Moses Adubajo (ankle).
