Albion have had some bleak days and evenings at Brentford.

They struck lucky last time to grab a 1-0 win thanks to Karleigh Osborne’s own goal in 2010-11.

But by and large their classic London awaydays have come elsewhere in the capital.

We have picked six here, all at different venues. Let’s see if Griffin Park is added to the list today.

Millwall 1 Albion 2 (Sept 22, 2012)

Was this Albion’s last classic awayday in the capital? The Seagulls won at Millwall last season but with luck on their side. Actually, they survived some scares in this match too after taking charge through goals by Ashley Barnes and Adam El-Abd (see clip above). Chris Wood replied but the Seagulls, roared on by 2,468 fans, got the points which took them top of the Championship.

The Argus:

Dagenham 0, Albion 1 (Mar 29, 2011)

Gus Poyet’s men completed their magnificent March, in which they took 24 points from eight games, by winning 1-0 at Dagenham. It was a tale of two Albion strikers. Seagulls’ old boy Bas Savage missed an open goal in the first half and Glenn Murray later volleyed his 20th of the season (above) to grab the points. The win took Albion 13 points clear in League One.

The Argus:

Charlton 0, Albion 4 (Oct 16, 2010)

Arguably the awayday by which all others are measured, certainly in recent years. Albion were tipped to face a tough afternoon at the Valley but ran riot with goals from Inigo Calderon, Glenn Murray, Kazenga LuaLua and Matt Sparrow. The last three all came right in front of a packed and jubilant away end.

Crystal Palace 0, Albion 1 (Oct 17, 2005)

Okay, this one was more suburbs than the big smoke. A trip up through Sussex and Surrey does not really feel like a London awayday. But imagine the comments had this result, clinched by Paul McShane’s header, been omitted.

The Argus:

West Ham 0, Albion 1 (Nov 13, 2004)

A real smash and grab in the Championship as Albion scrapped for the points which, ultimately, would help keep them up by the skin of their teeth on the final day of the season. Guy Butters headed in (above) and Hammers boss Alan Pardew said: “I felt like we were mugged.”

The Argus:

Albion 2, Sheff Wed 1 (Apr 14, 1983)

Yes, there have been three trips to Wembley since then. But this FA Cup semi-final is rated the best Albion awayday EVER by some older fans. Jimmy Case and Michael Robinson got the goals at Highbury, formerly home of Arsenal. Robinson (above) recently picked out that day as the highlight of his career when asked by a Spanish TV channel.
