Andrew Crofts has revealed his big goal to round off his career – helping Albion into the Premier League and keeping them there.

The midfielder was promoted with Norwich and played for them in the top-flight in-between his two spells with the Seagulls.

He is aiming for a repeat under Sami Hyypia after signing a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2016.

Crofts told The Argus: “It would be nice to copy what I did at Norwich, be involved in taking the club to the next level and then playing for them in the next level and staying at that next level.

“That is my ambition now. I’ve played at every level, from Conference to international. It’s good to have that on the CV but I am not one of those players who thinks I’ve done this and done that.

“I’m still only 30 and I want to achieve a lot more. Hopefully that will be with this club. Everyone can see what is in place. It was a massive appointment by the chairman and the Board to bring Sami in and what he has put in place already is really exciting.

“Everyone is buying into it, everyone wants to achieve what this club wants to achieve. It’s going to be tough, as it is every year, but every year we seem to be making good strides.

“That is my real ambition, to be involved in taking them to the next level.”

Crofts, in contention for his 350th career start at Brentford tomorrow, went up from the Championship with Norwich in 2010-11.

The Welsh international said: “It was a tough league then but every year it seems to get that little bit tougher. The year after you had West Ham and a couple of others who were really strong.

“This year will be no different. I don’t think there will be a runaway team like Leicester last year. I think it is going to be a really tight battle again, one out of goodness knows how many teams.

“We will be striving to be in amongst it again. We have been the last two years. You look at Leicester, Swansea, Cardiff, teams like that. They were close for two or three years and then the year after did it. It would be nice to emulate what those clubs have done.

“We are under no illusions. It’s going to be really tough. But we have got a really good squad now and hopefully one good enough to be fighting to get out of this league.”
