Andrea Orlandi is struggling to be fit for a possible return to the Amex.

The former Albion midfielder is suffering from planta fascitis – a ligament condition – in his left foot.

He is already a doubt for his new club Blackpool’s game against the Seagulls on Saturday.

Orlandi sat out the Tangerines’ unlucky 1-0 home defeat by Watford on Tuesday.

He is known to be in considerable pain but has not given up hope of facing his old club.

Blackpool will head south chasing a first win – or second point – of the season but have not been beaten by more than the odd goal since the first day of the campaign.

Boss Jose Riga has praised his team’s fighting spirit but would love to have Orlandi’s imaginative spark at his disposal.

Riga said: “We need some players who can create an opportunity, create something.”

Meanwhile Cardiff City could have a new manager – or be looking for one – by the time they visit the Amex on September 30.

An announcement regarding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected today amid reports his tenure with the Bluebirds is over.
